Does anyone have any good endo specialists in the North West? I am currently based in Bolton and last year was diagnosed with endometriosis via laparoscopy but my gynae was only general and I didn't feel understood at all. I have just been to see another gynae at the Royal Bolton Hospital and they were even more hopeless. I had a mirena coil fitted during surgery and I was told the only option I have is to deal with the irregulated periods and side effects and I'm 'stuck', and the only other option I have is to remove the tubes - I just don't believe this is possible. Please if anyone could suggest some good endo specialists below, I would be really grateful x

There is a specialist endometriosis centre at Wakefield pinderfields hospital and at Hull Royal. I have been referred to Hull following diagnosis of stage 4 endo. I live in Leeds
I’ve been referred to Arrowe Park in the Wirral which is a specialist centre. The consultant ther was fab and I really felt listened to. However I did wait 9 months for a first appointment there and that’s with two large ovarian cysts (11cm and 8cm). When I had my first consultation I’ve been told at least another year to wait until surgery.
Happy for you to message me if you want any further information 🙂
Hi, I’m in Bolton myself and found the Royal Bolton Hospital rather lacking. They referred me to St Mary’s Hospital in Manchester which is a gynaecology specialist hospital. They really are amazing and do know what they are talking about and are very understanding. I was offered a referral to them after Bolton Royal realised my endo was that severe but if I were you, I would definitely ask. Honestly, can’t recommend them enough. They also have endo nurses who you can contact if you’re ever struggling. Hope this helps x
Hi Charlatan, thank you for responding! I was actually looking at St Mary’s in Manchester so I think I will get myself referred asap. How long was your waiting times?
I’ve been under Arrowe Park hospital Wirral for over 13yrs I was referred there from Liverpool Womens hospital because Liverpool Womens didn’t have an endo specialist at the time (I believe they finally do now). So you’ve got a choice of the two.
The surgeon (Mr David Rowland) I was under originally at Arrowe Park retired last year but there’s another specialist Mr Tom Aust who done my recent hysterectomy. Not sure of the name of the one at Liverpool Womens.
The link above is for the BSGE centres all across the UK. But as someone above has said St Mary's has a endometriosis specialist Dr Edmund Edi-Osagie and Stepping Hill also has a specialist Mr Suku George and Mr George also works privately at The Alexander BMI.
I'm also in Bolton and had the same experience, I was referred to St Mary's and I'm currently on the waiting list for surgery. It's a 12 month waiting list for surgery, I'm not sure about the initial appointment times currently.
The consultant at Bolton should refer you to them. They knew they couldn't deal with my stage 4.
Hey. I know this is an older thread but just wondering how the Bolton/Northwest ladies got on with wait times? I’m also Bolton based and have been referred to both Preston and St Mary’s Endometriosis centres as have deep infiltrating endo and 1 10mm endometrioma attached to my bowel and another larger one in the other ovary.
It’s been a long enough journey so far - over 18 months from start of excruciating pain episodes - already knew I had endo so it was a case of finding out what was going on.
Hoping for some light at the end of this long and lonely tunnel! Xx
Hey no worries at al!! I’m really sorry that you are also having to go through all of this. I’m not sure about the wait times at Bolton as I got myself referred to Guy’s and St Thomas’ in London in the end and since then have been under their care. I have looked at St Mary’s in the past before and it does look like quite a good clinic for endometriosis. If it’s any help, I got my first laparoscopy at Leigh and Wigan Infirmary and didn’t have the best after care. I don’t know if it was because my operation was during Covid and everything was just manic and it’s got better. Have you looked on the BSGE websites for some hospitals? Let me now if you want me to send you a link or anything. Hope this helps x
