Medium Chain Triglyceride (MCT) oil

Hello, The objective of this post is to bring together any information related to Ketone bodies and their benefits / harms, and include all Ketone sources like Ketogenic diet, MCT oil and Fasting.

I combine a ketogenic diet with MCT oil and sufficient exercise. (The presentation is in Dutch. Most here will not be Dutch speaking and can use subtitles in their own language). Now I recently saw this video by Professor Stephen Cunnane https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFype3qEZRs.

In the morning, I have the following: 6:00 am .25tsp ceylon cinnamon (simply organic brand) in water 6:30 am coffee /w mct oil (70% c8, 30% c10 - micronutrients organic powder) (Exercise....) 8:30 C/L 1.5 x 25/100; .5mg pramilexole; 50/200 C/L ER 9:30 am second dose of mct oil and coffee 10:00 am second

what is the function of MCT oil? Thank you so much kind people for reading my post and any knowledge you can share!

Can you take Mct oil if you have pbc?

One further point - for anyone looking to buy MCT oil. Look for something that contains mainly Caprylic Acid (C8) which is more readily absorbed and converted to Ketones. Some supplements are sold as MCT oil but are more akin to coconut oil, which has a much lower amount of C8.

Medium Chain Triglycerides - known as MCT Oil. There are different types but C8 and C10 are good (the C stands for the number of carbons in each molecule). Coconut Oil is also an MCT but will generate fewer ketones than C8 or a combination of C8/C10.

I was just reading today about the recent UCLA study (published 12/13/24) that found that omega-3‘s and fish oil slow the proliferation of prostate cancer. The study only applied to men on active surveillance. Does anyone have any information about its benefit for men with advanced PCa?

I’m not on thyroid replacement and the only supplements I take are evening primrose oil and myo inositol for occasional breast tenderness and feelings of rage for one day during menstruation.

Had 1 cup of coffee with heavy cream, Irish butter and coconut oil in it. Took my first dose of sinemet 2 hours later than usual. Also took the following meds and supplements - 1 mg Artane, 100mg Provigil, 600mg NAC, fish oil, vitamin d + k2, potassium 99mg, 10mg lithium orotate.

I take 5htp, hyaluronic acid, vit Bs and omega 3 fish oil.

I’m currently still on Methotrexate and have been taking supplements - vitamin D3, vitaminC magnesium and fish oil. I’m thinking of taking Slippery Elm supplements for acid reflex instead of Gaviscon. Just wondering If anyone has taken these and had a reaction.
