endo has agree to increase T4 and reduce T3

I persauded my endo to get my levo increased by 25mcg and I agreed to reduce my T3 by 12.5mcg. I have already previously reduced my 3 by 12.5mcg. I was on 50mcg and 75 mcg levo until my last blood when I was advised here to reduce T3.

I have been fasting for Ramadan which I was told reduces conversion from T4 to T3. I have been getting some slight vertigo breakthrough which I get if thyroid hormones are low usually. I have stopped fasting because of this. I dont want to fall over.

SO far since seeing the endo a week ago I have increased T4 by 25mcg every other day, mainly becuase of the vertigo and it seems to have helped a bit although yesterday I almost fell. But should I stop and get bloods done or continue with this dose for 6 weeks then test or should I reduce my T3 by a tiny bit. Would be gratefull for some guidence.

I am taking ferrous sulphate in the middle of the night with vit c. Magnesium citrate before bed with D3 and k2. I take 5htp, hyaluronic acid, vit Bs and omega 3 fish oil.

Can you share your latest thyroid blood tests results?

Personally, I adjust Levo or Lio very slowly, as otherwise you can miss your ‘sweet spot’ where you feel most well. I use a pill cutter and adjust by 12.5mcg Levo or 2.5mcg Lio.

For vertigo, I’ve recently found a series of exercises that (in my case) really helped, so will forward the link.

latest blood results are as follows

vit D 111.

Tsh 0.01 ( 0.38-5.33)

T4 8.7 ( 8-18)

T3 5.1 (3.80-6)

cholesterol 5.1 ( 0.50-1.70)

folate 11.6 ( 3-20)

ferritin 48

T3 taken 24 hours before test as was levo.

taken 12 december 2024. I was very anxious at the time and have reduced my T3 by 12.5mcg which has helped.

The above post by SlowDragon outlines how Liothyronine should be split prior to a thyroid blood draw. As you didn’t take Lio for 24hours before your test, it is likely your FT3 reading would be higher.

I’ve personally found that having thyroid readings at the top of the range increases my anxiety, so I would experiment with increasing your Levo/ reducing Lio. I advise you do so slowly over time, to minimise spikes of anxiety.

Thank you. I have done so and it has helped. I was advised after I posted my bloods last time that my levo should be higher and t3 lower. Hence persauding the endo to increase levo. Should I get my bloods done again before making any more changes. I feel inclined to stick to the increase of levo of 12.5mcg for six week then test.

I’ve always found it helpful to make one change at once, so understand this. I would certainly retest levels after 6-8 weeks of increasing Levo by 12.5mcg. Keep an eye on any symptoms you experience while adjusting.

aim to maintain GOOD vitamin levels too

Vitamin D is good

No B12 result

Folate could be better

Exactly what vitamin supplements are you taking

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

endocrinenews.endocrine.org...

In days before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12 if last test result serum B12 was below 500 or active B12 (private test) under 70

Ferritin needs improving, look at increasing iron rich foods in your diet

Thank you. I inject B12, take ingenoius B complex, better 4 u vit d and k2 and I am on iron following iron studies that showed anemia.
