I feel defeated.
Hi everyone, I feel defeated. My anxiety feels like it is finally winning. I'm a 25 year old health professional (I know right, I should be all over this stuff!) and I've suffered with anxiety for the past 4 years. It's been bad/ hard to control for the last 6 months. I feel anxious about everything

Hello. Introducing myself
I joined a couple months back while conducting research, but this is my 1st time writing. My father has depression and anxiety and has taken Lexapro (and a few other meds) for years, with mixed results. For years, people have been warning me that I may turn out like him (depressed, sometimes aloof, sometimes

Should I see my gp or an endo or who?
Hi, I've been reading a little while and am dead impressed with the knowledge here. I'm not really sure of my next steps and I was wondering what you all recommended. I've been working with a nutritionist to try and lose weight /have more energy and after getting nowhere with dieting, she sent me for

Stuck in partial recovery
I just wondered if anybody here could maybe chat to me or perhaps can relate to what I am saying. I don't think I actually have an ED per say, but I think I kind of have disordered eating or I am stuck midway between ED and recovery. Back Story: I had anorexia at 15, it was physically quite severe and

Newbie here. My ex husband has just been turned down for liver transplant after 3 weeks assessment. His ukeld score is 65. He s unlikely to survive much longer as has been on borrowed time since last year when we were told he was terminal. He has every symptom going ascites, HE, jaundice, low platelets

Praulent Injections for Familial hyperlipidemia
Hi I've been on statins for nearly 20yrs without much success. My consultant has recently put me on the bi monthly injections of Praulent 10mg, plus 2 other statins. My 21 yr old daughter has a dominant gene from me and a recessive gene from her dad and consequently her lipid levels are sky high. She's

New
It's very difficult for me to reach out to other people, especially since I've gone through this roller coaster of a disease for so long and have experienced how destructive It can be to relationships. Lately I have been having a hard time leaving my bed, let alone my house, and to know how it is affecting

Morbidities
Hi all. New here. Having a tough time with Sleep Apnea, AF and mental health issues. Sleep Apnea and AF cause me anxiety and the anxiety causes depression. When depression is bad, I turn to alcohol, binge drinking to be precise. The whole cause and effect scenario spins round, where upon the alcohol

The 6 Dietary Tips Patients Need to Hear From Their Clinicians - The research is out: diet matters. Here's what patients need to know.
[Poster's comment:- This is the latest advice being issued to USA professionals for dissemination to their patients. Whilst it is generalized, with an anti-obesity slant, there is nothing contradictory to the perspective of OPA members; apart from adjustments for meal size and timing (and possibly supplementation

ECTOPIC HEARTBEATS/HEART PALPITATIONS/STRESS AND ANXIETY
Hi. I had heart palpitations beginning of May during the night which woke me up and was taken into hospital. HR was high, fluctuating between 100-124bpm. Obviously it scared the hell out of me. ECG and blood tests done and xray done and all normal. I was discharged home the same day on a low dose

Freaking Out - Personal Space
I have PTSD, GAD, and Major Depressive Disorder. Last week, my counselor moved to a chair that was much closer to me. This week, she asked permission to sit on the couch with me - her at the other end. Later the same day, I had an appointment with a cardiologist who, after discussing medications, etc

Finally an answer to my pain?
Hello everyone I'm still here chugging along with my pain. It has been a dark few months. I've not had the will to do anything. I went through bupa and had an antigen test for H.pylori which was negative. Last week I had a ct scan and today I find out all was great except..... The consultant misread

Doctors and their double standards
So after a week in which my diagnosis has been changed from anti-ccp positive RA to fibromyalgia and I have been told to go away and get on with my life and may be take up mindfulness or something as it's all in my head it has got me reflecting. I'm having to do this because I can't carry on the house
