It's now 8 weeks since I had my op. I'm doing really well the doctors are really happy with my progress. It's so nice to be able to breathe without oxygen. And do the normal things s 40 year old woman does. My kids are so happy that they have finally got there mum back especially my 11 year old son

Husband about to start crizotinib.Worried about side effects, infections etc
Hello all. My husband is just about to start oral crizotinib (just found out he's ALK positive). We are wondering how manageable it will be long term (we know everyone reacts differently) - for example, what side effects have any of you had and how have you coped with them? Steve's had 3 lots of chemo

Lost my mom to aspergillosis
On Monday morning my mother passed away. She had lung cancer twice. One in 2007 in her right upper lobe. She had a lobectomy. In 2009 it came back but she needed only radiation. Since then she's been clean. In 2013 she was diagnosed with aspergillosis. Over time though, this fungal ball, took a toll

Would you tell your story of being diagnosed with lung cancer to help improve future healthcare?
My name is John MacArtney and I am part of a team conducting research at the University of Oxford into peoples’ experiences of being diagnosed with lung cancer. Why is this research important? Research shows that people in England are often diagnosed with lung cancer later than in some other European

My mum’s cancer made me stop smoking
Hi all, There's a new story on our blog written by a lovely lady called Judith. She smoked for decades but managed to give up after learning that her mum had lung cancer. She now has COPD herself, but says she's thankful she was able to stop when she did. You can read her story by clicking the link

Iressa for BAC but what about Bone Pain?
My mom has been on Iressa (gefitnib) since JUNE 2013. She started this medication just before my wedding. We noticed a huge change in her energy level and overall well being within the week that she started using it. She is still on Iressa and her CT scan and blood results look great (as of today)

Lung Cancer
I was talking today to a friend who lost her husband through lung cancer last year. By the time he was diagnosed he was stage 4. He didn't really get any symptoms except losing a bit of weight and a hacking cough, but his consultant told them something very interesting which I would like to share

Five years on!
Lung cancer anniversaries can be bitter sweet but they get sweeter with time. I'm celebrating five years NED this month - was diagnosed as stage IV in May 2010. I know I'm not the norm but for every one of us that matches the statistics there are a few of us who buck the trend so please, to all reading

Are you EGFR+?
We are looking for feedback on how you have coped with treatment and how it has impacted on your daily life. This is to help us make a submission to the Scottish Medicines Consortium regarding the drug gefitinib (Iressa). At present this drug and erlotinib (tarceva) are used to treat people with EGFR

Observations, Thoughts, and Knowledge!
I have been on this site for a few years and I very rarely post largely due to the fact that when I have I feel that I become attacked due to the opinion I have. I have a medical back ground as I was a registered nurse prior to being diagnosed with IPF. I worked in a nursing home with the elderly many
