How much iodine should be taken
Does anyone know what a therapeutic dose of iodine is? David Brownstein treats thyroid disease with large doses but the was a recent docuseries by Alan Christianson saying the exact opposite and that it is too much that causes thyroid disease. The docu series is finished but the Q&A is still on YouTube

Graves thyroid eye disease (TED) post-thyroidectomy?
Hi all, new here and would appreciate any info you may have re this issue. I've had Graves and associated TED for the past 5 years, and not wanting to be on meds any longer, and also to hopefully help the heart, I scheduled TT for end of 2020. Here is my question: since Graves is the immune system attacking

Undecided on treatment
I’ve read so much about RAI and anti thyroid drugs and I still can’t decide which route to take. I know there are risks with both. I have been diagnosed with Graves and I’m currently on Propylthiouracil. I would like to get pregnant at some point so if I go down the tablet route and end up in remission

Just expressing blood results without T3
Hi all I hope the weather is suiting and D3 soaring 🙃 Just to briefly update I've been upping levo to trial it for a good while, and up to 125 now although it always been near top,of range anyway. . And t3 near bottom I'm wondering if I'm stored up in RT3 I'm still unsure about it? Am I right

Pain relief
Hi ladies Do any of you take slow release morphine capsules? I’ve been prescribed these but just feel reluctant to take them as I hate side effects although I take codeine (cocodamol) and occasionally ocycodone for worse pain Just wondering if the slow release ones will be more effective...I want to

Fascinating Graves’ Antibodies Study
This is a remarkable study https://eje.bioscientifica.com/view/journals/eje/158/1/69.xml . A couple of caveats. 1. I fortunately have no experience of Graves’. 2. I have not looked for similar studies that may report different results. The study is excellent in that patients were randomly assigned

Rheumy telephone appointment earlier
As most of you know I’ve been struggling despite the steroid injections into the knees and starting Sulfasalazine. I had my follow up with my rheumatologist earlier this afternoon and the upshot is that the steroid injections lasted all of three weeks. The Sulfasalazine she was hoping would have had

L-lysine Supplements
I have been on w&w for the past 2 years with frequent bouts of mouth sores. My GP put me on lysine supplements and within 10 days sores have cleared but wbc rose from 14k to 19k. Has anyone had similar experiences and if so what did you do.

Medication and general care concerns
Hello to all. I was diagnosed with having a degenerative disease of my lumbar spine back in July 2011. Which has been life changing. When I say I have had all treatments I really have. I have been through and exhausted the pain clinics on two occasions. I have had extensive Physiotherapy, Accupunture

Thyroid scan
Hi, just wanted to say a big thank you for your patience and advice on here. My previous blood results were normal and didn't show raised antibodies but was advised to go for thyroid scan to completely rule out hashimotos. I went yesterday and the scan showed no signs of hashimoto or thyroid disease

Nice guidelines post Radioactive iodine
Hello everyone, I am just reading the NICE guidelines which now state that post RAI you should start patient off with dosing as per 1.6mg per kg weight. Monitoring after radioactive iodine treatment 1.7.1 Consider measuring TSH, FT4 and FT3 levels in adults, children and young people every 6 weeks

supplements interfering with medication
I know it's an obvious one but what are your thoughts/experiences with taking supplements that may interfere with, in my case hydroxychloroquine, or other RA/PsA meds? I started pizotifen a few weeks ago for severe migraine and cluster headache prevention. It worked like magic but I gained 3/4 stone

Urgent help needed please
Hello. Writing from acute medical ward after admission Saturday afternoon following a severe reaction to taking codeine (a single 30mg dose). It's a big ask, but if anyone reading this could reach out with any ideas as to why I have now reacted so badly to this drug when years ago I could take it, I
