L-lysine Supplements

I have been on w&w for the past 2 years with frequent bouts of mouth sores. My GP put me on lysine supplements and within 10 days sores have cleared but wbc rose from 14k to 19k. Has anyone had similar experiences and if so what did you do.

Hi Iceman,

I couldn't find any consistent information on how L-lysine may affect CLL and I presume you haven't seen an increase of 5k in your WBC count in just 10 days. Even if it has done so, you need to look at the change specifically in your lymphocyte count, while bearing in mind that our lymphocyte count can bounce around considerably. The WBC change may not be due all or even in part to an increase in CLL in your blood. If you remain concerned, there are other remedies for mouth sores, so post again, asking specifically for what others have found that works for them.

This post explains why you need to track your lymphocyte count, not your WBC count: healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo...

and this post shows just how much your lymphocyte count can bounce around: healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo...

I have only had two small painful sores on my tongue once. I read that oil of oregano was a very effective treatment. I touched each sore with the tip of the oil dropper and it hurt like holy hell. But only very briefly. Immediately the sores were no longer painful. I did this three times in 24 hours for two days, followed by a mouth rinse several times a day with the oil of oregano and water. The sores disappeared very quickly and did not return. The solution of oil and water can also be taken internally. I bought the one fluid ounce of oil of oregano on Amazon for about $12.

Incidentally, I was already taking Lysine as one of my supplements.

Iceman82, I have been taking L-lysine for almost 3 years and have had no mouth sores since. I had them constantly prior to the L-lysine. I do not believe that it has influenced my WBC one way or the other.
