Nicotine as a Nootropic, and Ways to Get it Without Smoking
Nicotine gets a bad rap because it's associated with smoking and addiction. But if you take it safely and in the right way, its benefits might surprise you. There’s a lot more to nicotine than smoking and addiction. Like caffeine, it’s a powerful smart drug, and when you get it at low doses in its pure

Autoimmune Hepatitis
I have AH and was until recently on steroid treatment. I’m now only on maintenance (Azathioprine) but I continually feel sick and my tummy is always upset. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have any practical advice. I’ve seen my Dr and am awaiting a colonoscopy without any meaningful

Removed from Transplant
Sadly I have been removed from the lung transplant list . Harefield say the pulmonary hypertension I have has worsened so much that I wouldn’t survive surgery. I have no idea what will happen next. I’m on 24/7 oxygen, my lungs have approximately 10% capacity and I have no idea what to expect. My respiratory

Liver transplantation for alcohol-related liver disease in the UK: revised UK Liver Advisory Group recommendations for referral
There was a time when a person who required a
liver
transplant
through alcohol abuse would have to show a commitment to a life of sobriety, and prove that they had not consumed any alcohol, or alcohol-free substitute drinks for at least 6-months.

Fibroscan after one year from last one
I would like to share some upate about my liver status. A year ago I had fibroscan 8.8 kpa (IRQ/median 32% so not so reliable). No CAP score was measured. At that time BMI around 25. Now today fibroscan 7.0 (IRQ/median 4%), CAP 237. BMI around 23, no alcohol during last year (but I have never drunk unhealthy

It's back what supplements are ok?
Hi all, Budge up everyone, I need a place at the PMR table again. My last Pred was taken in December 2016 or so I thought. My osteo arthiritis flared a couple of weeks ago but after three days of Flarin it didn't calm down. I noticed after a while a few familiar shoulder twinges and booked a telephone

Pulmonary Hypertension
I’ve just returned from a pre lung transplant check up at Harefield. Last seen in November when all was ok except pulmonary hypertension was noted. The pressure was 40 mm of mercury. Normal is 25. They weren’t too bothered as walking to the room could have raised it. However today I needed a wheel chair

Working with cirrosis
My husband was diagnosed with decompensated cirrosis the beginning of December 2021, he was in hospital for over a week, with jaundice and ascities, had a biopsy and a drain, medication has kept the fluid at bay and so far he has not had to have another drain. He has abstained from alcohol for nearly

MS hug after contrast dye?
I've had more MRI's than I can count, both with and without, but today's didn't go too well. It was later in the day than usual, so I didn't get my standard afternoon nap. After the MRI was finished, I had a lot of trouble just sitting up on the bed. It was like my body was frozen in place. In a short

cirrhosis and edema / ascites
My partner diagnosed 22.12.21 with alcoholic cirrhosis stopped drinking on that date. Since then has been having 3 weekly drains and wasn't able to have diuretics due to low sodium. Was hospitalised last Friday due to extreme edema in feet, legs and scrotum. Has been on IV diuretics as sodium now OK
