new to forum, scared! hi all, I'd like some advice please,

my husband's has Wernekes Korsakoff( a form of dementia )he was diagnosed in 2018. they said cut down alcohol and ultimately stop. No one mentioned any fatty liver or explained any bloods to me, I'm his carer now, so I've been trying to cut down the alcohol, between , , were 4-6 cans daily( I too drink) we upped walking After bloods, mir, ultrasound, Nov 2021 we had a random call from docs to say his fatty liver is cirrhosis, we waited all this time (moved house too) no hepatology appt, I've chased them all up, we now have a tel. appointment for today, Whats the best questions to ask please,( were now in contact with the local alcohol unit locally, well see them Monday, Actively trying to establish an AF life and joining ex. classes )I'm very grateful for this website, it has opened my eyes very wide, the info is fantastic and no drivel !

I'm going to ask, when may he have an endoscopy to establish if he has varicies and/or ascites, what stage of cirrhosis, compensated or decompensated, does he get a biopsy, he should see a dietitian, he's had bloods done last week, his results from January's bloods were highlighted by an * beside them; ALP *175, range shows 30-130 U/L / MONOCYTES *0.9 range shows 0.2-0.8 / UREA * 0.2.1 range shows 2.5-7.8 /. CREATININE *60 range 64-104 / BILRUBIN *27 range shows 0-20, detection of icterus, lastly ,IMMUNOGLOBULIN A *4.93, range shows0.8-4, I wonder, any thoughts please. thank you so much for any help.

My sincere appologies to those suffering from NARLD,

Sorry to hear about your hubby shmila - hopefully he's going to get the care he needs going forward.

I've read your profile and your own alcohol usage seems to have been very high too and you seem to have been experiencing some symptoms which may indicate potential liver issues yourself (itching needs some investigation). I would be making some appointments with your GP to at least get a set of bloods done.

It's great that you are both taking steps to address your alcohol intake too - keep that up.
