I’ve just returned from a pre lung transplant check up at Harefield. Last seen in November when all was ok except pulmonary hypertension was noted. The pressure was 40 mm of mercury. Normal is 25. They weren’t too bothered as walking to the room could have raised it. However today I needed a wheel chair as I’m recovering from a nasty chest infection. The pressure has gone up to 80 mm. Medic will discuss this at a meeting tomorrow, but fears it means I would not survive surgery and will be removed from transplant list. When I was an inpatient at my local hospital I was told I would not survive Covid or any resuscitation intervention. My recent infection is not the cause. Very low oxygen levels are more likely the cause which continued despite being prescribed oxygen.
I will know Harefield decision on Friday. 22 months on transplant list and I was hoping for a better outcome. Still not quite the end, but edging close.

But if you are recovering from a bad chest infection then that could raise it? When there were concerns about mine I had to do twice daily tests at home for 2 weeks which proved I don’t actually have an issue.
Let’s hope they make a constructive decision on Friday.
Sorry my mistake. I only 1/2 read Google information. I thought it was to do with high blood pressure. In which case you can monitoring it at home. However I still think you have reason to hope because when they tested you, you were still recovering from bad chest infection.
My husband had pulmonary hypertension every time he had an infection when he was waiting to go on the list. When the infections were treated the hypertension subsided but throughout he was on oxygen 24/7. He had IPF and was fortunate enough to still go on the list. I think there are several considerations not least your overall condition. Ultimately the doctors will take everything into consideration. I wish you well Mary and hope you get your wish.
Thanks for sharing this , know how you feel as I have been in this position, but wishing you all the luck for the 22nd. Hope your chest infection clears up soon, I also have a chest infection and am on oxygen 24-7 10-12lts so can sympathise right now. Good luck 🙏🌷
