Gastroscopy to check for varices
Right, I'm at the next step in my Alcohol Related Liver Disease Journey. After being advised in February that I may have Cirrhosis and portal hypertension I ceased drinking. Have done quite well with a couple of relapses with visitors, just the one day each time then back on the wagon. I had the ultra

Liver cancer support suggestion for my brother
Supposedly, if he remains sober for several more months, he might be a candidate for a
liver
transplant
. He is single and his young children are far away in another country. He goes to AA and sees a counselor at Sloan Kettering starting this week.

Urso and pain
I have been taking urso now for 6 months. I still get a pain almost daily in my liver area. Sometimes it's a sharp stab that makes jump and other times it's just a dull ache. I wonder to myself when it happens is my liver getting worse and its constantly on my mind. Does this happen to anybody else?

ELF's
Any thoughts on ELF blood tests v Fibroscan, i want to see if 2 years of good diet, weight loss, no drink etc has made a difference, everytime I get a Fibroscan I am dissappointed as the KPA is going up not down, I just want to try and find out why and thought should I get the advanced Liver blood tests

It remains enigmatic.
Hallo Everyone, and Thank you again to Fibro2021, I have read your very numerous and various responses to people, and admire your clarity and that you never patronize! I begin to see how hypertensive portal gastropathy, is somewhat serious, perhaps more serious than that which is occuring in my colon

decompensated cirrhosis - aching
Partner diagnosed 22.12.22 decompensated alcohol related cirrhosis. Stopped drinking then. Bloods slowly improving until a bit of a crisis 3 weeks ago when he was suffering from awful edema (he previously couldn't take water tablets due to low sodium). He is back home and bloods are now looking better

Lung transplant second opinion update.
Saw the very nice team at the Royal Papworth following the Harefields decision to delist me. Where do i begin? First of all what a place, futuristic, buzzing with energy and you just knew you were in a different league. They haven’t said yes but more importantly not a no either. Bottom line is they

Me again!!
Just something niggling me so sorry for troubling the forum but I just need things to be clear so I can deal with my illness without being in constant worry. My fibroscan result was a reading of 36.6. I was told that I had NASH with Fibrosis but it is compensated. If it was cirrhosis, would he have told

Cirrhosis LFTs came back as normal but still worried
I spoke with my consultant today as I'd not had my blood results from last month. He told me my Liver function tests showed now as normal but said I'm probably still border line decompensated as LFTs don't matter. I asked him about hypertension as I have normal portal vein flow and normal flow through

Is fibrosis f2 reversible?
Had fibroscan today. Score of 9.2. Is this reversible? I was pleased it wasnt cirrhosis. I was told it was mild fibrosis but online charts indicate f2 as 'significant fibrosis with evidence of progressive liver disease' I have AIH & am taking budesonide 9mg daily. My LFTs have started to normalise so

PBC suspecting
Hi, I am very worried about my liver tests, and possibly PBC. I have been having yearly blood tests since 2008 (except 2019 and 2020), LFT were always normal, until November 2021, my AST, ALT, was about 3 times the norm and GGT was 4 units up. The tests were repeated in January, enzymes went slightly

Use of adjustable bed with cirrhosis and COPD
Hi, I've recently been diagnosed with alcohol related cirrhosis. Had a long conversation with my consultant last week and apparently I'm at stage A which is quite good to hear. I have a gastroscopy booked for 26th to check for varices and will be having a bone scan, vitamin check and tests to check

Hello to everyone, I'm new here and we got my sons diagnosis yesterday after 5 months of him being unwell and a blood test showing extremely high liver enzyme levels. I wonder if there is anyone ( maybe even of a similar age) with the same condition as I'd really like him to talk to others and I would
