Hello:) I just had my third kidney transplant in December. I had multiple pre transplant day long meetings to decide the best option for me having a third transplant and it was decided my fiance would donate and we would do paired exchange as a live donor and planned transplant would be for the best

Low Blood Sugar readings
Hi I have Stage 4 fibrosis NASH and 2T diabetes. My readings are dropping below 5 regularly and I eat sweets to bring it back up. Tonight my reading was 3.2. Anyone else have the same problem?

blood group and being listed
my partner is at the very early stage of transplant assessment and today our transplant co-ordinator has told him that based on his current bloods and his blood group (A) she expects that if he were to be listed for transplant it would be a wait of weeks rather than months. He is actually not hugely

Hello, my husband is an alcholic, he will never stop (we haveall accepted it now after 20 years), the problems are massive, one thing at the moment is he had a brain scan, they found that 2 years ago he had a mild stroke and it has left him with scarring on the left side of brain,

Treatment for cirrhosis
Hi all, diagnosed with cirrhosis 2 years ago, caused by hep c. Been successfully treated for the virus. I’m having my 6 monthly checkup but all the doctor says is “how do yo feel”, your liver is stable , see you in 6 months! My question is, why have I not been prescribed any medication. I read on here

Stopping Prednisone
I had my kidney transplant 2-1/2 years ago and my lab tests are consistently good. I'm taking everolimus, mycophenolic acid and prednisone. The prednisone is causing weight gain, diabetes and, possibly, hair loss. I tapered down to 5 mg of prednisone over two years ago. I'm now wondering whether I can

Cirrhosis/Sprionolactone/testosterone
I know. Bit of an odd one!!! Hi all! I’d just be interested to know if anyone has had any (male) hormone issues surrounding cirrhosis and/or the use of Spironolactone. Or perhaps it’s just me?! About a month before diagnosis, (I couldn’t see them because of my swollen belly), It felt like my testicles

Updated information causing confusion
I have an appointment with the
liver
surgeon (
transplant
team) on Wednesday to review everything. I have worked extremely hard to unite all my Doctors to come up with an agreed upon care plan. It’s been a full time job. The surgeon wants to cut and the oncologists wants to treat.

Helpful article for those who love someone who is dying of alcoholic liver disease
Hello, everyone — This article might be helpful for anyone who is watching a loved one die from alcohol addiction disease, and it’s subsequent effect on the liver. It’s stunningly honest and frank, and faces head-on some issues that are difficult to talk about. I hope it might give support and a feeling

How long have your liver enzymes been elevated?
Mine have been in the 40-45 range for the past 2 years before that 70 and 60 for 2-3 years then periods of normal right now ALT 37 and AST is 32 some scales would say this is normal but the lab I went to puts them elevated by 3 points but I’ve been dealing with elevated liver enzymes since 2014

Alcohol free drinks
Over the weekend I went to a neighbours barbecue. I didn’t want to appear antisocial, so went for an hour. I said I was off alcohol. I didn’t go into detail...I gave up alcohol over a year ago due to liver disease, and I’m pleased to report that I’m well. I enjoyed my drink...it was a bit different.

Questions? normal scans but liver problems..
I see a lot of people on here with the same thing, that they have bloods done, normal, have scans, ie ultrasound, CT, MRI all normal then they get a biopsy or F/scan and it shows liver issues, why cant they not see that on other scans? If your liver is fibrotic, or even fatty would it not always show

Fatigue is back with a vengeance - and low mood as well now
Hallo all Really struggling with fatigue at the moment. Think it might be the worst I've had although I'm not sure because I also seem to have lost my memory and my marbles as well! I feel like I've turned into a wannabe couch potato - and my mood is really low a lot of the time. It's really distressing
