Is the Kpa from a shearwave elastography the same as the Kpa from a fibroscan?
Hi all, I had a shear wave elastography of the liver. Kpa 7.8. My ultrasound said increased echogenicity and mildly in creased exotexture. Does anyone know if this is suggestive of cirrhosis? Has it gone too far. Worried sick.

Drinking and liver
I am reading a lot of posts here and people honestly admit their drinking. But what is drinking. Before January 2021 I would have a glass of red wine every day for a few years. Apparently, all my doctors even now say red wine in moderation is fine. Well, no. I was told fatty liver, had cholecystectomy

Critique My Supplement Stacking? Share Your Protocol?
Update: I can be such an idiot. I have not been diagnosed with PK. I have REM Sleep Behavior Disorder and my neurologist was kind enough to let me know PK is in my future (and/or LBD). My supplement list is intended to keep PK and LBD away (though truth be told my balance is not what it used to be, and

Do I or Don't I
Hello, I am fairly new to this forum, I have been diagnosed with cirrhosis due to Alcohol and the results of the MRI scan show a mass of nodules. What I am worried about is that I did not tell any of the professionals that my father died of cirrhosis which turned into liver cancer. My Nanny and Grandad

My PBC Journey
GI watched enzymes for 5 years 2015-2020. No symptoms except GI sent me to Ohio State in Dec of 2019 to make sure she wasn’t missing anything . Ordered MRI of liver—-best test to slice and dice liver. Found two spots of cancer on top ridge of liver and did a Microwave ablation to kill it. Successful

Liver Biopsy black spots on scans
Hey All. Sorry if this has already been spoken about. We are just very worried. My partners Mum was admitted to hospital for gallstones and whilst there they performed ultrasound which showed dark spots on the liver. They then performed both a ct scan and mri with dye and are still non the wiser so she

Nervous to take urso
Hi everyone, new here and recently diagnosed with PBC. My dr says I’ve probably had it since 2019 but that there’s no sign in my bloodwork of actual damage yet. I was prescribed 1000mg of urso and I’m also seeing a naturopathic dr who gave me some supplements, including milk thistle. Is urso generally

Air travel, gastroscopy and non alcoholic beverages
My hubby has been diagnosed with cirrhosis. He had ascites which has been drained. He is now at home on a high protein, carb diet and low salt. He has stopped drinking alcohol since he was discharged home. He was an habit drinker and has had no symptoms of withdrawal. When out socialising he drinks

Trying to keep the chin up!
Evening! My Husband had his first face to face consultation with the transplant team since he was listed today. Looking back it was very intense, despite the friendly faces of the Team. Came away feeling less certain about what our future will look like than when we went in....the real bummer about Liver

Help pls re terminology.
I should know the answer but I don't. I haven't heard the terms Compensated and the other De-compensated. I have already posted about the decision not to offer me a transplant but they have sent me to an extended team, the High Intensity Alcohol Cirrhosis Clinic. I'm trying to get my head organised.

What dosage of calcium supplement is recommended when on prednisolone?
I'm on 7.5mg of prednisolone. At my rheumatologists appointment today I advised him that I wouldn't be taking up his recommendation of Alendronic Acid despite having a very small amount of osteoporosis in my lower lumber region. I advised him that I was taking Caltrate which has 600mg calcium/200 IU

Unknown liver disease - No symptoms
Hello! I’ve been on this trip for 4-5 years. I’m a young man (31), “normal” weight and I didn’t start drinking until I was 24, and not abusing (you know, just some drinks on weekends with my friends). It all started with a very low elevation of liver enzymes at a regular doc visit. He said that they

Understanding Portal Hypertension
Please can someone explain to me (in a really simple way), what Portal Hypertension is, what are the symptoms and why would I not be informed I have it (by Liver Consultant) when my Diabetic Consultant knows and, once again, nobody has considered it prudent to inform me. Dr Google does not explain

Just need some honest opinions
34 year old male, drinking since age 18. Pretty good shape, not overweight, pretty active, eating fairly healthy. Started drinking at parties and socially and went 2 + years in the span from 18-24 without drinking at all. Started drinking heavier (usually 4-5 drinks per night) around 2013-2014. Since
