Liver questions

This is my first time asking a question here. I am a 44-year-old male I am worried I have something wrong with my liver I have had stomach pain on and off for the past three years .These tests have been performed I’ve had 7 CT scans with dye in the past three years all normal /all bloodwork normal 22 test in all Which included liver function test . the past eight months I have started to have varicose veins running down my left leg from groin to my foot and a small patch of thread like veins on my stomach on the left side. I have also began to have muscle twitching random all over not one pacific place it mostly happens at rest which Is here for a week then gone the next. With this many CT scans is it possible for them to miss liver disease and how accurate is a CT scan. My father died of liver cancer from cirrhosis five years ago.I included a picture of the veins on my stomach .Could some of this be anxiety related. Any response be helpful thank you

I truly do not think that 7 scans and 22 sets of bloods would have missed liver disease. CT scan is second only to MRI in quality and would almost certainly have revealed if there was an issue with your liver.I can understand you having a degree of health anxiety having lost a loved one with liver cancer and cirrhosis but none of the symptoms you mention are suggestive of a liver issue. I am not qualified to say whether or not this is anxiety related but it is entirely possible to develop physical symptoms when you go looking for them or obsess about it.

I do agree with the above comment I convinced myself I had liver cancer and then got all the symptoms because I obsessed over it that much. I do have benign liver tumours and when I eventually stopped worrying after my second mri and second opinion for another hospital suddenly all the pain went. Xx

Hi and welcome,

Have you thought about discussing your anxiety with your GP? They may be able to offer some support and counselling.

Regarding your photo, we ask in our community rules for members not to post photos asking for medical guidance, no one is medically qualified to assess this, maybe you could ask your GP to check out your skin concerns.

Take care.

Sounds like you were very progressive on advocating for yourself to get that many tests. However it sounds like that has ruled out liver disease. I understand the situation a bit, I was convinced I had liver disease, normal ultrasound and labs said I was fine, and endoscopy revealed the explanation, which was mild and not caused by liver

Have a similar tiny spider vein on my abdomen, no cirrhosis. Doc said could be due to obesity and increased blood flow due to it.
