Just when it's now safe to go out, a note of caution.
I first posted this up two years ago as a timely reminder. All those who have received a liver transplant (like myself) or who have a suppressed immune system will know how important skin protection is at this time of year. It can feel like we are having to doubly protect ourselves. Having got through

Me again!!
Just something niggling me so sorry for troubling the forum but I just need things to be clear so I can deal with my illness without being in constant worry. My fibroscan result was a reading of 36.6. I was told that I had NASH with Fibrosis but it is compensated. If it was cirrhosis, would he have told

Is fibrosis f2 reversible?
Had fibroscan today. Score of 9.2. Is this reversible? I was pleased it wasnt cirrhosis. I was told it was mild fibrosis but online charts indicate f2 as 'significant fibrosis with evidence of progressive liver disease' I have AIH & am taking budesonide 9mg daily. My LFTs have started to normalise so

PBC suspecting
Hi, I am very worried about my liver tests, and possibly PBC. I have been having yearly blood tests since 2008 (except 2019 and 2020), LFT were always normal, until November 2021, my AST, ALT, was about 3 times the norm and GGT was 4 units up. The tests were repeated in January, enzymes went slightly

Use of adjustable bed with cirrhosis and COPD
Hi, I've recently been diagnosed with alcohol related cirrhosis. Had a long conversation with my consultant last week and apparently I'm at stage A which is quite good to hear. I have a gastroscopy booked for 26th to check for varices and will be having a bone scan, vitamin check and tests to check

Hello to everyone, I'm new here and we got my sons diagnosis yesterday after 5 months of him being unwell and a blood test showing extremely high liver enzyme levels. I wonder if there is anyone ( maybe even of a similar age) with the same condition as I'd really like him to talk to others and I would

Lost
I live with my parents, always have done. We are very close, they are my best friends. 3 months ago, my life started to fall apart. My dad got diagnosed with liver cancer caused by Hemochromatosis. We have fought so hard but the cancer took over and he was too weak to be able to have any form of treatment

Let down by promises
Just about a year ago, I was diagnosed having Cirrhosis of the liver, the consultant asked if I would like to be put on a trial of a new medication (not told the name), I was told it would start early this year, When nothing happened, I started to chase this up (bearing in mind I was also told I would

US Scan
Just had ultrasound scan and radiographer said no enlarged liver and spleen is normal. But the liver surface was not smooth. I know I have fibrosis. Will this be the cause? And how bad can it be to show up on scan?

Newly Diagnosed
After a battery of tests, I've recently been diagnosed with end stage cirrhosis according to my doctor, but haven't yet seen a specialist or had a biopsy. Hopefully someone can help answer a few questions until I get seen. Is final stage cirrhosis life limiting and what is life expectancy? How will I

Consultant appointment
My husband was diagnosed with decompensated cirrosis of the liver (ARLD) in December 2021, he had jaundice, asceties and spent over a week in hospital, where he had a drain and a biopsy. Due to covid I was never able to see the consultant as they always came in the mornings. Since then we have been to

Occasional RUQ since a few years, now elevated GPT
I started having right upper quadrant pain in early 2019. I went to my GP who told me to have a blood sample taken that found slightly elevated Billirubin. I got an improvised ultrasound at the same time that hinted at fat deposits in my liver - that wasn't done thoroughly, it was actually just a test

Traveling on a plane with liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension
Hi I’m new to all this. My partner was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis back in may 2022 and spent 7 weeks in hospital. In February this year he was taken into intensive care with a GI bleed and needed blood transfusions and was told he had portal hypertension. He had a follow up endoscopy 4 weeks later

Prognosis is not so good.
Hello all, So we had an appointment this morning to see husbands consultant. He was aware that he had been declined for a transplant, due to other health issues. So had a chat, and we are now managing the complications that go with decompensated cirrhosis, and to keep him as comfortable as possible.
