What are ‘off’ periods – and how can they impact people with Parkinson’s disease?
“The ‘off’ state can kick in when
levodopa
is eliminated from our body – and people begin to express motor symptoms that are related to the low amount of dopamine going to the brain.”

Parkinsons odour
My Wife is being treated for Parkinsons since Jan 2019.Previous to that, there were times when I could smell an odour from her even after getting ready for a night out. I've no idea if others could smell it but after receiving the co-careldopa tablets, the smell never occurred. I mentioned the odour

Co-careldopa dose
WWP was diagnosed about 5 and a half years ago after responding greatly to 3x 25/50 co-careldopa within 5 days.Having been diagnosed as such it was, for some reason increased to 3x 50/100 a day as the continous treatment. Any idea why the increase, when the smaller amount worked and as it is known,

Mucuna Please Read..do the homework
There are 2 good published studies (see below for links) showing wide discrepancies regarding how much actual
Levodopa
content is in the supplement.

The role of istradefylline in the Parkinson's disease armamentarium
Its efficacy was pronounced, when patients were on a lower chronic oral
levodopa
regimen.
Levodopa
causes a homocysteine elevation, which reflects an impaired methylation potential.

Anxiety Strategies
Particularly interesting that
Levodopa
doesn't appear to have any positive impact on anxiety, and may indeed make worse by affecting Serotonin and NE levels! Also of interest is that Anti-Depressant type Meds can exacerbate other PD symptoms.

I have been offered Entacapone. I would appreciate hearing your own thoughts and experiences.
I am doing pretty well 7 years post dx, but my neurologist wants to add Entacapone to my 4x
Levodopa
per day regime to shorten my downtime, and I am uncertain whether it’s the way I want to go.

Could Psychedelics help in Parkinsons Disease treatment?
- Medication resistance - For some patients who do not fully respond to
levodopa
and other drugs, reopening periods may help brains develop workarounds or harness residual neuroplasticity to further improve symptoms.
