Parkinson's Diagnosis: The Good, and The Bad
I am dealing with symptoms with the goal of holding off
Levodopa
as long as possible. With these medications I have been able to continue with my job as a engineering manager for a SF tech company.

Good overview of Parkinson's
Parkinson's Disease: Is Victory in Sight? http://www.yourhealthbase.com/Parkinsons.htm (The answer is probably not, but you might be able to keep the score's level for a good long while if you follow his advice*). Change of Meds
Hi everyone, My Dear Friend has just seen her Neuro who has recommended changing her Stanek for just Carbidopa/
Levodopa
and introducing Opicapone instead of the Entacapone ( which is in the Stanek) that she currently takes. Does anyone here take Opicapone and if so how are you doing with it?

A PD type? Postural Instability gait disorder
Hello, I am in seven fighting years into PD. My main issues are balance, freezing, bradykinesia and gait. I have essentially no resting tremor, no constipation, etc. with some softness of voice later in the day. I get RLS when the dopamine runs low, but I manage that with a self-directed mucuna’ L-Dopa

Fantastic Flax
Since any form of
levodopa
raises homocysteine levels (associated with vascular disease and dementia), this could be especially important for PD fighters. Apparently, 1 to 2 TBSP of flaxseed a day (grind it up and keep it in the fridge) added to your smoothies or oatmeal can help.

Early treatment: levodopa vs. MAOI
I've read The Lancet's PD MED study from 2014 but am wondering what the longer-term implications of starting
Levodopa
now would be. Any input much appreciated!

I NEED GUIDANCE
At the first diagnosis of Parkinson's he was given Carbidopa-
Levodopa
25/100 and told to titrate it to 3 pills a day within 3 weeks. I know how stupid that was now.

Dopamine Agonists Not Good for the Elderly
He says, "Elderly people have poor tolerance to the agonist compared to
levodopa
: more hallucinations and confusion. Also, the prime reason for starting an agonist is to delay motor fluctuations; these are less common in the elderly population.

Long Term Usage Mucuna Extract vs Mucuna Whole Herb
I was formally diagnosed in 2011. Shortly after this occurred, because I have a 40 year background in natural medicine, and also because I was unable to tolerate Sinemet, I started to try various natural protocols that had been shown to be effective for some people with Parkinson's. One of the first

Levodopa
helps a bit. Also, I've had physiotherapy and done Tai Chi. However, for me at least, they made little difference. So, I've been looking at technological solutions to the problem. Several commercial products exist, but I thought that I'd try a DIY approach.

More on "Liquefy your L-dopa"
This is a response to the post "Liquefy your L-dopa" (about dissolving
levodopa
in ascorbic acid and water). I'm starting a new thread here because it's been 8 months since that original post.

From 2014 says the jury is not in
maybe somebody has something more recent or more authoritative? " ... although there has been ongoing debate regarding the effect of L-dopa on neurons in PD patients. Some believe that treatment of PD patients with L-dopa potentially promotes neurodegeneration owing to the production of free radicals

Shortage of timed release carbidopa/levodopa
My pharmacist told me yesterday that they won't be able to get the timed release version of carbidopa/
levodopa
until December. I will run out (CR 50-200) by end of October. Any suggestions?

My experience with RLS
I am taking carbidopa
levodopa
two pills at night. It has been wonderful. But if I don't take them at 7:30 pm the legs start and takes longer for the medicine to work. No side affects to report so far. It's been two years. I still suffer during car or plane trips. To the point that I cry.

Carbidopa/levodopa Dosing
I have had Chronic Lyme since 1992 undiagnosed until 2004. PD diagnosed in 2005. I initially took 4 - per day - 25/100. I was able to decrease that to 2 often only 1 - 25/100 per day for 7 plus years. Until a year ago I was perfectly normal with no difficult off times - only the need to rest and sometimes
