Inhaled levidopa to reduce “off” time episodes.
My awesome wife received a thank you letter from The Michael J. Fox Foundation after making a contribution. The letter described “INBRIJA”. Here’s a quote, “The FDA recently approved Inbrija, an inhaled levodopa powder, for patients who experience “off” episodes. This is the first Parkinson’s therapy

Myoclonus and Sleep Deprivation
Once again I turned on the light in the early morning, this time at 3 am, to view the show: a furious firing of fasciculations beneath the surface of my calf. This has been my ongoing living nightmare. Carbidopa-Levodopa, my latest treatment drug, is now failing. I have given up on sleep in the wee hours

Mucana vs Sinemet
My husband was diagnosed five years ago with PD. He is 75. His biggest annoyance at this time is hallucinations. He takes Sinemet, 25/100 , 2 pills three times a day. We are aware and I follow this site, that it could be caused from his medication. We have attempted twice to reduce but can only get down

Too much Sinemet
First off, if you've seen one case of Parkinson's, you've seen one case of Parkinson's. In my wife's case, she experienced overdosing on Sinemet. She started by taking Mirapex when she was first diagnosed about 5 years ago. Even a small dosage was putting her to sleep for long periods of time. Her

Dopamine wake-up call anyone?
I’m a PD warrior on C/L who can sleep fine as long as the l-dopa is where it needs to be. That means a dose before bed and then 3- 4 hours later a “wake-up” call for another dose. Yes, I just wake up just like that, and if I wait long enough RLS will kick in. A dose then will get me down for the rest

Sinemet now unavailable in New Zealand
Sinemet is out of stock here in NZ and pharmacies say it might be quite a long time before its back. The new substitute called Kinson which they say is the same but I think the product that disperses the levodopa ect is not good.It does not help me the same and I get headaches and feel down on it.

Lab testing for Mucuna in UK?
Hello Has anyone in the UK tried to send off their Mucuna for testing, to see actual dosage of L-dopa contained therein? This is one of the reasons consultants give for not being able to advise about Mucuna... I know that the companies selling the mucuna give an indication of how much L-dopa is in it

The journey of Levodopa inside the intestine.
In his blog of 9 February "BAC for the future", Simon of Science of Parkinson's remembers that Levodopa is converted into Dopamine by an enzyme called Decarboxylase DOPA. He also says that outside the brain there is a lot of decarboxylase dopa in other organs of the body, so there is a risk that Levodopa

I am new to this forum and Im uncertain how to pose my question but Ive got to ask because I dont know if it is normal reaction or not....
I am currently experimenting on myself, only because i cant find a dr who is familiar with mucuna, so I am taking three sinemen and three entacapone and fill the rest with muncuna. Inevitably throughout the day I will get this debilitating sensation sometimes before a dose some times immediatelyafter

Acute Morphine Treatments Alleviate Tremor
Morphine can be endogenously synthesized and can increase DA firing rate through disinhibition. In addition, upregulation of neuronal endogenous morphine-like compound immunoreactivity was found in human PD. These facts suggest morphine may have potential therapeutic relevance in PD treatment as dopaminergic

Who is active here who has Early Onset Parkinson's Disease?
I was formally diagnosted 2 years ago, at at 43. I have predominantly rigidity, bradykinesia, and reduced movement in my right arm, and several other symptoms besides. I haven't started taking medications yet. I'm concerned about the possibility of dyskinesia, which is more likely to occur when people

Abnormal skin sensation
Hi All I’m 71; have had PD for about 10 years; currently on C/L 25/100 faithfully every 4 hours for the past 2 years. Two days ago in the evening I noticed slight itching on my left lower shin. Thought it was an insect bite but there is no visible lesion. It resolved but came back again last night and

1st 3weeks on B1
Sorry Roy I'm sure I'm supposed to post this on Facebook I just don't use it. I'm very happy to report that the use of B1 has been very good for me I only wish I started earlier. I'm in my 11th year 7 years since diagnosis. Dr.C recommended one gram a day for two weeks and increase if all is well. Yesterday

The role of Cytochrome P450 enzyme inhibitors in herbal treatments of Parkinson's Disease
At least 6 Cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYP 450) degrade or metabolize L-Dopa, Azilect and Ropinirole, reducing their bioavalability and lifetime in the brain. They are highly present in the gut, the liver and some even in the brain. Conventional medications largely ignore their presence and action. Herbal

Generic Drugs: Inactive Ingredients
It is with some hesitancy that I write on this topic. My purpose is to inform, not to alarm. The issues I shall discuss are real, but I expect have very small impact on the general community. Please take care not to imagine that everything I say applies to you personally. With these caveats I shall proceed
