How Much Carbidopa Levodopa After 5-10 Years? Any other meds?
I am about to "celebrate" the six year anniversary of my Parkinson's disease diagnosis. I currently take five 25/100 Carbidopa Levodopa tablets per day, usually around 9:00 a.m., noon, 3:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., and 9:00 p.m. although timing varies slightly from day to day. Lately, I have noticed that I

Rasagiline and Mucuna together?
My MDS is a huge fan of rasagiline and I’ve taken it for almost 3 years, and want to continue to take Mucuna and carbidopa as needed along with it. I've read that Mucuna should not be taken with rasagiline. Is there any truth to this? I’m not going to stop taking rasagiline, and I’d rather not start

Doesn’t the Half-Life of C/L apply only to, while in the bloodstream and once Levodopa crosses the BBB it is stored until used?
I posed a question in a comment and have not received an answer. I am thinking that once L-dopa crosses the BBB it is stored until used (maybe as dopamine). And, Half-Life is how long it stays in your Blood Stream. The
plasma
half-life of levodopa is about 50 minutes, without carbidopa. When

Rasagiline?
I had an appointment with a neurologist who wants me to continue taking Carbidopa-levodopa, but also take Rasagiline. The side effects and food interactions list seem onerous and dangerous to me. And, it is rather expensive. I canceled the prescription until I understand this drug better. Any thoughts

St John's Wort - other alternatives?
Hello wise people, Diagnosed with PD 3 and a half years ago. Going through difficult time. My mum is at end of life with inoperable brain tumour - maybe a week or two to go (this has been very sudden). My dad is also receiving Immunotherapy treatment for lung cancer. Had been looking at St John's Wort

Suggestion for new members
I don't have PD and can't answer a lot of the questions posed here, but feel bad when new members don't get their questions addressed. I think sometimes this happens because a subject has been discussed ad nauseum, and members assume a search of this forum will turn up more info for a poster than they

Amantadine induced muscle spasm/dytonia
it won't go away with increased madopar dose. I am not sure my muscle spasm/ dystonia is caused by levodopa itself or amandatine. anyone has experience?

Levocarb side effects
I have had Parkinsons for about 12 years. Extreme gait issues which have been treated with higher dosages of Levodopa. I am experiencing body pain when I get close to my next dose, which is down to a 3 hour interval. Could the pain be withdrawal as my dosage is usually worn off by then?

Asking for your stories and help
Hi, I'm new here. Yesterday, after 2 years of searching, my 75-year-old mother was finally diagnosed. We are from Poland, where there is no other treatment apart from amantadine and levodopa. There are also no websites or support groups like yours. That's why I would like to ask if, apart from a physiotherapist

punch drunk and off time
I have never come across ‘punch drunk’ as a symptom of Pd, yet I do experience it and 2 posts in this group have recently mentioned it. Typically, if I miss or forget a dose (I take rytary 4x per day and 1 dose of Amantadine for dyskinesia, I suffer from many of the typical pd symptoms such as speech

My positive experience with B1 Therapy
I started the B1 therapy in October 2023 (was diagnosed with YOPD in February 2023) following the protocol written on the book “Parkinson’s and the B1 Therapy” by Daphne Bryan. For the past 10 months, it has been helping me controlling symptoms such as extreme tiredness, lack of balance, dystonia, rigidity
