Hello everyone. Curious if anyone has any idea of any PD medication that is easier on the gut, than carbidopa levodopa. Any information would be great. Thanks.

I can't answer your question directly, and my husband who has Parkinson's hasn't taken any prescription drugs but is taking Mucuna Pruriens.
However, as I believe it has been discussed on this blog many times is the fact that most individuals with Parkinson's have trouble with constipation and it might even have contributed to them coming down with the disease. Your gut bio has a lot to do with your immune system and keeping you healthy.
My husband had problems in this area and we found a probiotic that has helped him have regular bowel movements. It has been a great relief on my part as he is in the later stages of Parkinson's and I pretty much help him do everything. You need to check it out and read the story behind the product. The website is and the product he uses is called Sugar Shift. The company was started by Martha Carlin to help her husband who has Parkinson's.
We highly recommend. You have to give it a good try. Let me and others on this blog it worked for you.
I noticed that the website did not show in my response...maybe this is against the rules?? But here it is again Biotiquest.com.
i am hoping for replies to this. I have terrible nausea with CL; tried it with food, an hour after food and no results. I wonder if there is anything else that can do the same thing. as CL I would love to know. Problems are only with first morning dose. ( I take 25/100 3x a day).
The obvious answer to try, with the caution that you need to be alert for serious side effects associated with dopamine agonists, particularly compulsive behaviors, are rotigotine patches
Thanks for the reply. Fortunately enough for me. I don’t have any kind of compulsive behaviors. I did try the patch and I felt like I was a 16-year-old girl! Let’s just say the hormones were raging and I didn’t really care for it. All I know is that everything that goes on in my stomach which is very obviously a problem with PD is a gastric issue. It’s been like that forever and has also gotten worse. Additionally when my stomach issues get worse than I deal with having Tachylalia Which is a royal pain in the ass lol
