Muhammad Ali and Young-Onset Idiopathic Parkinson Disease—The Missing Evidence
"Following Muhammad Ali’s death, there has been persistent dialogue about the degree to which Parkinson disease vs repetitive boxing-related head trauma contributed to his progressive motor and cognitive impairments." The authors go on to say, "Muhammad Ali’s disease course, from his late 30s until

carbidopa, levodopa side effects
Good morning all, can anyone talk at length or is there somewhere on the site that I can find the side effects of carbidopa levodopa? My doctor wants me to stop taking it because quite frankly, all it does is make my symptoms much much worse. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

I've just bought a Therapulse in the hopes of getting some relief from my "Intractable" RLS which can occur at any time of the day or night and can last for as long as 5 hours. I take slow release co-careldopa every 4 hours. Lots of people have found it works but what I can't work out is:- * do I

carbidopa
18.57,
entacapone

Berberine & gut microbes that increase L-Dopa (contains good explanation of sequence leading to dopamine production)
“ They started testing the effects of berberine and l-dopa/dopamine-producing gut bacteria in a mouse model of Parkinson’s. They discovered that treating animals with berberine, or transplanting E. faecalis and E. faecium into their gastrointestinal tract could improve both their behavior and brain function

ibuprofen for PD
Occasionally I take Ibuprofen 400 mg once in a week or so and it fortifies the effects of levodopa by three times or higher. Wondering if there are any studies available on ibuprofen use for PD. Are there any negative side effects of its use for long ? Or long term positive effects for PD:

Anyone taking GOCOVRI?
I've been taking GOCOVRI for a little longer than a year. I take it for dyskinesia and to extend my "on" time. It helps the dyskinesia and helps "on" time a bit. No side effects that I know about. I tried Entacapone before that and it gave me bad dreams. My questions are; 1) Have you used

how much levodopa is normal?
I’m 7 years in to this fun ride. Mostly I’d say I’m doing ok. I’m tremor dominant bilateral now. I do have rigidity and slowness as well when off. I’d say that when I’m medicated well, people wouldn’t know I have PD and I feel pretty normal. I’m taking C/L 25/100 5-6 x per day. (2.5-3hrly) Would this

Fast acting Levodopa?
I recall that somebody had written about making a quick acting levodopa by grinding up a tab of Sinemet or dissolving it in carbonated water or.... ? My memory is bad on this because I had no need for it at the time. My understanding is that levodopa needs to reach and be absorbed in the small intestine

C/L induced dyskinesia - severe wrist pain
My mom has severe wrist pain due to Carbidopa Levdopa induced dyskinesia (25/100 x 3 times per day). Otherwise she is fine without any tremor. She says after C/L intake the pain is unbearable in her wrist. Infact, we can see inflammation (redness) in the wrist area. Any suggestions as how the hand tremor

Trial of Deferiprone in Parkinson’s Disease (Iron Chelation) Complete: Looks like it made PD worse...
So they completed the Deferiprone trial. I had not heard of the trial, but I had thought iron chelation could be a good avenue to pursue. Maybe iron chelation is still a good avenue, but it looks like this Deferiprone trial was worse than not effective. Sad to say but it looks like the placebo group
