Negative levodopa
I first posted this on the Neurotalk forum in 2018. I make a few additions here. Recently I heard the story of a women who controlled her dyskinesia by eating protein. Levodopa induced dyskinesia normally occurs when levodopa levels are at their highest (typically between 30 minutes and 90 minutes

Levodopa may slow progression
There has been much concern that levodopa hastens the progression of PD. Many studies have found this not to be the case. Graph showing levodopa levels during the day: on/off and dyskinesia
Some time ago I wrote an app that models how levodopa levels vary as a result of the medications that we take. This is based on pharmacokinetic values such as the half-life of a drug. To use it, for every dose that you take per day, you enter the time of the dose, the name of the drug and the size of

HDT & TTFD–In my case, HBP was a return of symptoms and not a side-effect of TTFD.

two unrelated topics - Viraball & Mucana/Rasagiline
Hello all Two random topics that I was hoping this group might be able to help with: • Viraball – found on Amazon (for “hand tremor reduction”). I think this is a cheaper copy of the Vilim ball, and I was interested to give it a shot at $95, but their listed website is not functional and so wondering

COMPT inhibitors friend or foe?
I am experiencing diskenesia about an hour to an hour and a half after a single 25/100 CL dose. A physician (not mine ) has suggested Entacapone might help reduce the unwanted movement and increase the “on” time . I’m reluctant to add more drugs but diskenesia is limiting my daily activities and driving

Regarding levodopa/mucuna: is this true?
If levodopa is used as a lifetime remedy, your body's intricate system for monitoring hormones will be short circuited. Sensitivity of the monitoring system is degraded and the system itself is eventually disabled. [i]
I read this in a book, is this true? How should a PwP solve this if he/she needs

Mucuna pruriens in Canada
Hello to my fellow Canadians. I am wondering if any of you are taking mucuna pruriens (not the powdered form) and can guide me where I can get it. I have been looking for 15% L-DOPA by protocol for life Balance but would be happy with the equivalent from another company Thanks in advance, Missy

Is high dose thiamine therapy effective for people not taking levodopa?
Hey! My friend was diagnosed with PD ten years ago at the age of 30. They are not taking levodopa because of the severe hallucinations it causes. I was looking for alternatives to traditional treatment approach and found the HDT therapy. I'm currently reading "Parkinson's and the B1 therapy" by Daphne

PSP Pain
My husband was diagnosed with PSP in Jan. 2019. He had an MRI after complaining about headaches. The pain has not lessened, and now includes his jaw. He complains that his heads feels like it's going to explode, and it hurts to move his jaw to chew. And he has become sensitive to light and sound!

What are your experiences with the consequences of a (tested) too low vitamin b6 level.
In connection with the worsening of my peripheral neuropathy that has occurred in addition to my PD, it appears after a blood test that my B6 level is extremely low (only 12% of the minimum needed value). This probably explains the onset of the PN and the poor efficacy of the Sinemet's L/C medication
