Challenging our Doctor

Our Doctor tried to put my wife on Statins because her LDL was 3.6. I had to point out to him that current research shows that the HDL to Trig' ratio is a far better indicator of risk and given that her HDL was 2.0 and her Trig's were 0.8 her ratio was not just good but excellent. Furthermore Women over 45 live longer the higher their Cholesterol. One possible reason for the efficiency of the Trig to HDL ratio is that it may be a good indicator of small LDL particle size (see link). Check your ratio before jumping into Statins

Well,

There are other markers you can look at.

Please ask you doctor to do a risk analysis and to give you guidance before any medication.

Was the blood test a fasting test, if not please go for a fasting lipid blood test.
