I have been on gabapentin for a little over two years. I had my cholesterol checked and my LDL went from 70 to 125. Has any body had that happen and do you think it was from the gabapentin? If so did you switch to another medication and what was it?

LDL cholesterol
Yes that can happen although generally it happens to people who already have a LDL above normal. It is still not in the high range. It is considered "near optimal"
Pregabalin does not appear to increase LDL so you can directly switch to it. Divide the amount of gabapentin you are taking by 6.
I’m so grateful you posted this. My entire life my cholesterol numbers were dreamy. And suddenly they weren’t. I never realized it was probably because I had started taking gabapentin!
I had perfect cholesterol readings before I took pregabalin (despite my diet having improved and physical activity remaining about the same),
Hi Matmmhg7, in my case I've been taking gabapentin for the last 4 months, after taking sifrol for a couple of years. Before that, I also used to take Gabapentine, did it for some years and eventually moved to Sifrol because of a bad advice from my doctor when I said that the gabapentin dosis was not enough. Now thanks god I'm out of sifrol and back to gabapentin. Unexpectedly, gabapentin has been great, espcially over the last 2 months. I take 600 mg and occasionally I take additional 300mg when I need it, but very rarely (so far). I just measured my lipids, a month ago, and LDL was 62,7. I tested it last year too, about June, and LDL was 78,5, therefore I don't think in my case at least, gabapentin is affecting my cholesterol. Hope this help.
