Cholesterol levels are frequently found to be elevated in patients who have PBC. This can be very unsettling as they feel it's 'one more thing' associated with their PBC.

It is the 'good (HDL)' cholesterol that is elevated in those with PBC. It is not the kind of cholesterol associated with heart risk or increased risk of having cardiac issuues. In fact, HDL can help remove the LDL from your bloodstream.

Make sure your regularly have your cholesterol levels checked with your lab work. Family history and diet can play a huge part in having elevated 'bad' (LDL) levels.
