Laxatives

It's it even possible for laxatives to have the opposite effect?

What does everyone else take for constipation other than laxatives. I eat loads of fruit don't like. Veggies and drink gallons of water

I have read that Prednisolone should not be taken with laxatives due to effects of lowering potassium levels? I take Movicol for chronic constipation due to sluggish bowel. Of course this has now worried me (health anxiety). Can anyone reassure me or am I worrying needlessly (as I do 😔)

It started after the third month but is becoming more prevalent, now using laxatives. (Otc) Anyone have similar side effects? Any prescription meds helpful?

I'm dealing with it with laxatives and a diet change (no gluten and low FODMAP), which works to an extent, but comes with its own challenges! (Plus the pain is still there). A colonoscopy came back with nothing (no cancer, no fissures, etc). My Rheumatologist says it's related to Scleroderma.

My partner and I are at our wits end, we feel like we're trying everything but it's just not enough.Doesnt help that our GP told me to give him max 6 laxatives a day and get him down to 4 asap as his system will become dependent on them.

I know that and the long term laxatives will help the constipation so i’m now looking at how to help him overcome the psychological reasons why he withholds stool. He told me the other night he doesn’t like to poop so that’s why he holds it in.

Forget to take laxatives with me but took windeeze capsules which I was taking like 3 times a day. Was helping with wind but not a great deal. I was struggling with the bloating and discomfort so went to the pharmacy got some laxatives looked like senna.

I assume that until you reduce the laxatives the poo should stay water consistency, is this right and therefore we aren’t there yet? Or can it then start to thicken up a little given food is still being consumed and working its way through the bowel?

Taking laxatives -senna at the moment, rather not have to use but I learnt that I can't risk getting blocked (even more miserable and it has serious effects on bladder control). Painkillers no use.

well after 10 months of many laxatives for chronic constipation, 8 months since an X-ray showed considerable faecal loading, I finally had a colonoscopy! The diagnosis is Diverticulosis.

It’s taken soooo long to pass bm finally, high fibre, no laxatives, strict routine and suppositries- I eat prunes, potato skin and bran without fail - it’s working!!! Having ct colonography on Thursday must I’m told start low residual diet and take this marker - which will also clear me out.

i’m at a loss at how to help my little girl - she’s been through so much since day 1 yet nobody seems to really understand what’s going on! She opens her bowels daily but we rotate between solid large poos, very watery to mushy consistency and the MUCUS in there is significant, with every bowel opening

Prior to this I've been taking all sorts of different products including Silicol Gel, Imodium and other laxatives but Fybogel seems to work quite well with me. Does anyone else need to take Fybogel on a daily basis like me? If so have you had any side effects taking it all of the time?

despite 4 injections and being told b12 can affect msny things like mood its never been mentioned it can help with bad constipation , needing laxatives , bloating on foods and debloat after enough bathroom visits .
