Wife's hip replacement
Wifey needs a new hip, something that at different ages, the recovery can be different, on other people. She's having it done privately, and info so far suggests in and out-same day. Would this be right. She will be sore after, so presume she'll be dosed up with painkillers. So, when does the pain

Anxiety Struggle
Good morning, well here goes another day. As soon as I wake up I think I can hear my heart pounding and just seem anxious all day. I was taken off Citalopram back in March following a heart event (not a heart attack but diagnosed with CAD with a narrowing in my LAD, no stent needed at the moment). I

Flare after surgery
Any advice please? I had a hip replacement 5 weeks ago and was jogging along OK but then decided I probably needed a new mattress, as I woke up barely unable to get out of bed in the morning because my hips/back were so stiff and painful. It took me some days to realise it might be a PMR flare.

A paper on the approach to optimization of hypothyroid therapy including combination therapy.
This new paper (downloadable) examines the problem of trying to optimally prescribe thyroid hormones for hypothyroidism. It's very technical, but the conclusions may be of interest. It uses a modelling system to try to gain an insight into good prescribing. Front. Endocrinol., 24 June 2022 https:

Hot sweats - solution
Following on from my previous post applauding my marvellous Rheumy… She got me an appointment with an Endocrinologist this week, and he came up with an amazing solution for my hot sweats! (Sarcasm alert) Background: My GP stopped my HRT in 2019 when I was diagnosed with GCA and absolutely refuses

query on previous meds before realising/dx with ET and how long?
Hi all, I have just watched the latest MPN seminar (which I always fine very interesting and informative) There is always a Q&A but it did raise a question for me: My very first symptom was that of constant 24/7 headaches back in October 2021 my high platelet count had been noted at this point but

bad RLS, recent hip replacement
Dear all, I am a caregiver to my mother (65 yo) who suffers from RLS, and I am so excited to have found this community! It actually makes me both happy and sad, happy because this is the place where everyone understands what a nightmare RLS is, and of course very sad that many are suffering like my mother

Wrong diagnosis?
Hi, Two weeks ago my GP called to do an unscheduled HRT annual review. I’m 50, not on other meds and quite fit. She said feeling sluggish was normal for folk with Hyperthyroidism, I nearly fell over in shock! Apparently I’ve had hyperthyroidism since 2014 which was diagnosed by 5 annual tests of undetected

hypothyroid following partial thyroidectomy. Question about HRT and optimum T4 levels.
Dear forum, I am 58. 3 months ago while having parathyroid adenoma removed, I also had partial thyroidectomy. This was because thyroid nodule was discovered during scans looking for the adenoma. The nodule was examined and contained micropapliiary carcinoma. No further treatment needed for that thankfully

eGFR is falling
I had my 90 visit with my PCP and the bloodwork dropped from 32 to 31. I have been on Farixga and we had hoped to see an increase not a decrease. I am working on weight loss (down 8 pounds) for a future hip replacement where the doctor wants me at or below 250 pounds. My PCP seems to think this

hello, I live in France and cannot get the kind of up to date help I need here, apart from a naturopath who advises on supplements. Apart from getting my nodules scanned and biopsied my GP is not interested. I need to consult with someone remotely in English and do all the tests they need by post

Advice on talking to GP
Hello All I'm new here and looking for some help. I have all the symptoms of an underactive thyroid but according to my GP my thyroid is perfect! I had some private blood tests done as I can't access the ones at my GP surgery at the moment. Results were as follows: TSH 5mU/L (range 0.27 - 4.2); FT3

I’m losing the will I really am. 4 years I’ve been waiting for someone to listen to me. Bloods taken, no markers……… Latest GP, it’s your age, you are going through the menopause, have you thought about HRT? I kindly pointed out that it wasn’t the menopause 4 years ago when the consultant diagnosed
