An Unusual False-Positive Uptake of Radioiodine Caused by Breast Implants
If the issue applies, make sure you discuss properly with anyone who wants to give you radioactive
iodine
. I suspect it will be at the obscure end of the scale. [i]Clin Nucl Med. 2022 Mar 30. doi: 10.1097/RLU.0000000000004165. Online ahead of print.

Thyroid test results with a total thyroidectomy
Can anyone answer my question - I had overactive thyroid in my teens then in 20’s had radioactive
iodine
followed by a ‘partial’ thyroidectomy about 2 years later. I had cause to need an ultrasound on my throat about 30 years ago and this showed I had no thyroid tissue there at all.

Afraid for my mental health
I have subclinical hyperthyroidism with a multinodular goitre, have had all the tests FNA,
iodine
uptake, scans ,parathyroid, bloods etc all came back fine. the doctors want to remove my thyroid only because of two large nodules but I have refused ,not sure I would be better off with out a thyroid but

Salivary gland pain
Has anyone experienced salivary gland problems after RAI? I had RAI two years ago and sometimes have pain under my ear when swallowing a bit like I had when I received RAI.

SOB relief
Hi, I'm new to this site, in my mid-60's with bronchiectasis and an FEV1 of around 40%. I'm just wondering if anyone has experience of being given something like a mild version of oramorph to relieve the discomfort of ongoing dyspnea, or at what stage that becomes possible ? At the moment I have to use

Thyroidectomy or Radioactive Iodine Treatment?
I used to lecture in radiation usage and safety and have concerns over the
Iodine
, especially as I also have a blood cancer and I have read about the affect on the bone marrow. The Endo seems to be pushing me that way but is that just re cost or is the RAI just easier and better?

Iodine Testing
Hi Can anyone recommend an
Iodine
test? I have read that a 24 hour loading test is the best and to also test for Bromide and Flouride as they can block absorption but I'm not sure where to get this done. Many thanks!

I'm embarrassed to say but I'm back on mirapexin after months of coming off it. I know it's wrong but I'm feeling human again. Iodized or non iodized salt in hypothyroid ?
In USA we get enough
iodine
from our food. Recently I saw a non-iodized Salt and purchased it thinking that people with thyroid should avoid
iodine
. Your thoughts please!

Endo adding T3
Hello everyone. I’m from the USA and love to read all of your posts here. I get so much valuable information here than I do in my own country. I had thyroid cancer 3 1/2 years ago and my thyroid was removed. I’ve had several RAI treatments. Normally my simulated TSH returns back to below 1. This time

Post-ropinerole aches?
Hi. I “was” an RLS sufferer. On ropinerole. Augmented. So after seeing loads of chats about DAs, I’ve come off it - I followed my doctor’s prescribed steps, gradually reducing to nothing about a month ago. I also concentrated on upping my ferritin from the last measured value of 81. I was on codeine

I asked him why I wasn’t given options when I was first diagnosed with an over active thyroid and he said he would’ve gave me three options,I replied you didn’t,you told me that radio
iodine
was the best form of treatment,he replied which it is,I replied but you never gave me options,he blatantly lied

Weight loss
Hi everybody- hope you’ve all had a good weekend. We had the appointment with my brothers oncologist- he’s a lovely man. We have a lot of drugs to combat the cough - mainly steroids & a codeine linctus. Fingers crossed it works. Unfortunately his cancer is showing extensive spread to his right lung but

100-150mcg of T3 but STILL COLD AND TIRED
Other supplements I take are magnesium,
iodine
, selenium, l-tyrosine, and an all-round multivitamin. I am not at the financial means to start working with a functional medicine doctor. So please, does anyone have any idea wtf might be going on.

Can overdoing it cause a flair
I've been doing fine on 3mg for a while. I'm a gardener and was hedge cutting a low but wide hedge last Tuesday. Bending over, arms outstretched welding a heavy petrol hedge cutter. Bad idea on reflection. That evening I had bad back ache and since then it's got worse rather than better. I can literally

What pain killers can I take when on HU?
I am experiencing terrible pain in my left hip/ thigh and leg and slept for only one hour last night. I had an X-ray and blood tests on Wednesday and await the X-ray results. Nothing was broken luckily. But meanwhile I am taking paracetamol every four hours which really doesn’t do much. As I’m on Hydroxycarbamide
