Hi I’m also CALR et. I’m retired. Yes your wife can still have children. Her medication must be monitored by an mpn specialist. I believe she will have to go onto a certain type. Are you in the Uk?

Jojowonder has given you good information and Maz is extremely knowledgeable and has links to specialists. Please take note of what they are saying. Please give your wife lots of reassurances. Good luck

Hi Aruntez,

I’m also ET CAL-R mutation. I was diagnosed after having my daughter almost 20 months ago. What is important is that you discuss your family plans with your Haematologist so they can guide you through. Your wife shouldn’t become pregnant whilst taking Hydra as it can cause massive issues so your Doctor should be able to recommend another course of action if it is safe for your wife to do so.

Knowledge is power, I had all sorts of nasty issues in pregnancy but I believe this was due to my then undiagnosed underlying ET. I feel I was lucky to have a healthy baby and to have come through it myself.

Really, I’m just getting in touch to let you know that it is possible but please take advice and precautions.

Your wife’s lifespan should be normal with monitoring and treatment where needed, in fact many think that ET CAL- R mutation is the best prognosis of all MPN’s. Check out MPN voice, there’s loads of great advice & info on there.

The very best of luck to you both.

Hii can you advise me about asprin my doctor prescribed us to take daily low dose asprin but I heard calr postive patients should not take asprin.

Do you take asprin?

I take asprin every other day. I pop a reminder in to my diary on my phone so as not to get mixed up.

Hope this helps x
