Hi everyone just wanted to ask if any have had problems with getting interferon 2a , my hematology doctor has informed me of this, so might have to change medication again, so gutted. For over 10 years i was on interferon 2-b then September had to change because could not get hold of it, thats when they changed me to interferon 2-a so back to another problem again.

I read an article recently that Interferon is effective in fighting Coronavirus so not sure if that might be something to do with a shortage. Search ; Cuba Interferon Coronavirus on google to read the article.

I think it would have been on the news if this was the case. I have read that it was tried with SARS but I don't think it's been considered for Covid19.

I was stable on InfA2a (Roferon) + anagralide for 8 years but was told the manufacturers were no longer making it because they were also producing Pegylated Inf which was the same, but longer lasting in the body , so wouldn't need so much. Problem is, it's much more expensive, and some hospital trusts won't stock it.

I had to change hospitals, and Consultants, to access Pegasys, which has put me back to normal.
