Diabetes 2 is now reclassified as an Autoimmune disease. See article below http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/222766.php It means there are antibodies to Insulin. The insu-lin is there but the antibodies bind to it and it is not free to act as insulin. Even when more insulin is produced

Hi my friends, Well thanks again for all your kind and interesting replies to my pre-diabetes post. Ever hopeful I had a repeat HbA1c on Christmas eve, and what do you know? It had gone up, despite all my giving up sweet and processed foods, from 44 to 48. WHY??? So after all that effort I now officially

The 62-year-old lost three stone in recent months as family urged him to see GP. There has been many articles in the Mail on line, sudden weight loss and type 1 and type 2 diabetes. "Both forms of diabetes share common symptoms, although people suffering from type 1 will display them more quickly.

Update on Dee
The meeting that was to decide if anything can be done for my daughter took place yesterday. She comes into the 10% of pancreatic cancer sufferers that can be operated on.However, they think that the tumour is possibly attached to a vein or something. They are going to try and peel it away. If this is

When you do eat after fasting; what window of time counts as a 'meal'?
When you do eat after fasting; what window of time counts as a meal? From an insulin perspective, how long between courses can the body cope with a meal being, before it becomes, say 3 x insulin hits? Just tagging Hidden as insulin is his area of expertise. Thanks all :)

Animal Insulins
Here in the UK, only a small, but significant, number of people are on animal (bovine/porcine) insulins. I was wondering if they are used much in India?

Breakfast . . . The Most Important Meal of the Day
I have the same thing every day for breakfast . . . a small bowl of steel cut oatmeal with lots of walnuts and 3-6 raspberries, depending on size. I use 2 oz of dry oatmeal plus 3.2 oz of water and cooked until it's dry. This is consistent with my standard diet that has slowed my cancer progression

Big pharma companies
Today only I read in news paper that a vial of insulin which was available in RS.63/ only now cost 17000/[yes seventeen thousand] and controlled by three pharma companies....Nordisk,Sanofi,Eli Lilly and they have the market of two lakh crore. This is the reason for manipulating parameters of fbs/ppbs

Reducing T3 are these results normal?
I have been taking T3 since the beginning of the year and was doing great but my insulin sensitivity went downhill badly and I realised it coincided with being on T3 (which other people have experienced) . Due to other dietary and health changes I was hopeful I could get my thyroid to function again

A lot of dietary advice from the NHS is outdated or confusingly represented.
I have lost 25Kg (56lb or 4 stone) in 6 months on the Keto diet with intermittent fasting. A lot of the foods the NHS diet recommends spike blood sugar and cause insulin resistance. Insulin resistance causes immense harm to our bodies, and the number one thing for your health is to become sensitive.

Inulin - may help sleep and constipation
My daughter recently bought me some inulin to try as she had heard it can help you sleep. I can't honestly say it helped me sleep at the time, but a side effect is that it is helpful with bowel movements!! More recently I took some on holiday with me - for my bowels, and this time I do think it helped
