Bell's Palsy post transplant
Hi folks, Had my TP. nearly 6 months ago. Was just starting to feel I was returning to life but have developed Bell's Palsy over the weekend. Inflammation of facial nerve has led to right side of face dropping, can't close right eye, eat & drink properly....all fun. Apparently being immunosuppressed

Point of view from the USA, from both a Lupus patient and GP (I'm them)
Since the medical system in the US is irretrievably broken and I have no idea how or when it will be fixed (and no energy left after nearly 20 years of GP practice [and now, in the past 30 months a triple diagnosis or SLE, Sjogren's and Hashimoto's thyroiditis] to go lobbying our useless government,

Does anyone else here sufffer with HS along side Lupus? I've tried load of different antibiotics, none have been successful. I'm waiting to start adalimubab but I don't know how much impact my immunosuppressive therapy agrivates the HS and therefore reduces effectiveness of treatment

Steroid versus immunosuppressant
I was diagnosed with PBC around 2006. And put on URSO, about 4 years ago my specialist thought that I had AIH overlap and put me on prednisone a liver biopsy was not conclusive and after a couple of years he recommended Immunosuppressant which made me really ill and took 5 weeks before I felt better

Hello.... waves from the sidelines 👋👋👋👋 I have missed you all so much.
MrRfc came home 7 days after his op and has a normal kidney function now, his main job now is to get get his
immunosuppressants
and anti rejection medication balanced, that will take a good six months with lots of doctors appointments but he is a lovely pink colour and has energy, something he hasn't

Dla - re liver transplant
Hi I received my Dla prior to my liver transplant which I got in 2015. I didn't know I had to inform the Dla that I had my transplant as straight after it i had a seizure then a stroke. I have had more seizures since then and now have epilepsy. I still attend Edinburgh Royal Hospital and Crosshouse Hospital

azathioprine and sickness
In an attempt to get him off steroids my husband has been prescribed azathioprine and was sick several times, so advised not to take it for a couple of days before taking it again which has resulted in more nausea and sickness. Does this pass off after a few days use ? I understand this is the preferred

Hyperthyroid symptoms, blood test help after Hashimotos Encephalopathy.
Good Morning as members here have helped me so much I was hoping to get some advice for my Mum too. Long, long, long story but my Mum was diagnosed with Hashimotos Encelopathy (also known as Steroid responsive Encelopathy with associated thyroiditis or autoantibodies to thyroid tissue/SREAT) last

New and a little scar(r)ed - I have APS and I'm going for an IUI in a little over 3 weeks...
Long story short: I had 14 miscarriages between 2000 and 2006. The 1st 11 were a combo of home tries and IUI's. Then, I did IVF twice, and an FET. Every single one lost to this horrid disorder. My APS was full blown back then. I was on the best treatment plan that existed at one of the best fertility

Elemental diet anyone?
I'm desperate not to go back on
immunosuppressants
, which is what I've been touted at every step. So I've been investigating. And came up with the elemental diet. It was mentioned to me back in the early days, but NO medic has even so much as waved it under my nose as an option since then.

Hello all! And any advice on being med free....& elemental diet
I'm desperate not to be on
immunosuppressants
again as I had awful side effects (then drugs for the side effects) and I don't think it's a great way to live the rest of my life ;( I'm sort of happy to take steroids now & again to induce remission but don't want long term Aza.

Methotrexate and enbrel
Over the weekend, Ive developed a sore, horrible cough that hurts my chest and also a real cold. I am due to take methotrexate (25mgs) tonight and enbrel on Tuesday. Is it ok to take these when feeling poorly? My thinking is I have a cold and cough that's probably viral, as opposed to bacterial and

Losing hope
I saw my Specialist today at Guy's...he told me I might not get better cos I haven't responded to immunosuppression and Infliximab. Being referred to Behcet's centre at Royal London Hospital but don't know how long I'll need to wait. I can't carry on feeling so ill.

Levothyroxine therapy and impaired clearance are the strongest contributors to small intestinal bacterial overgrowth
Minding your own business, thinking about not very much, pretty mindless television program on, click a button and WOW! A new paper, which is freely accessible, pointing its finger very clearly at levothyroxine as one of the strongest contributors to a specific gut issue - SIBO. So many people here

Yippee! Just had confirmed 2 more health related talking points; with which, I can bore the pants off everyone I meet. How lucky is that?
First off, be assured that although I post rarely, I do regularly read and digest the all the posts here. I have benefited from the wealth of knowledge found within the threads. Much as I would like to indulge in relating the nitty gritty of my new talking points. I will restrain myself and try to stick

Carpal tunnel
Has anyone with Rheumatoid wrists had carpal tunnel surgery ? and did it help?. I've been referred but am wondering how effective it can be if your wrists still get inflamed. Also, the risk of infection must be greater with immunosuppression - also I think I may be looking for an excuse, as a convinced

Prostate Cancer & Hormones - Cortisol
Cortisol is known as the stress hormone. Wiki: "It is released in response to stress and low blood-glucose concentration. It functions to increase blood sugar through gluconeogenesis, to suppress the immune system ... It also decreases bone formation." [1] "Diurnal cycles of cortisol levels are found

Immunocompromised Health Care Worker with Lupus
Hi there, I am an occupational therapy student with SLE Lupus. I have been deemed 'in remission' but I am still on Plaquenil which has immunosuppressant effects so it is a bit of a concern for me working in health care where I am exposed to a higher risk of infection. I don't want my condition to limit
