Hypromellose

There seem to be two main types of drops available, those containing Sodium Hyaluronate and those containing Hypromellose. Is there any difference in effectiveness between the two?

Pink film coating : opadry pink film coating containing hypromellose (E464) titanium dioxide (E171) macroglo 400, ALLURA RED, A lake (FD&C RED#40) (E129) and iron oxide back (E172). Good god..😳..

The capsuline ones have a listed ingredient of Hypromellose Phthalate, which is the enteric coating (lots about it on t internet). Also, be aware that the Dr T and T ones only have a delay of about thirty minutes.

I have been using hypromellose eye drops for a while because, particularly from Spring to autumn, I have itchy, gritty, dry eyes. This year they're worse than ever making my vision very blurred and no amount of hypromellose will fix it.

Chemist given me Hypromellose .03 % W/ V. Anyone know which are stronger? I wake up with my eyes stuck together,read about a night gel,rather than drops to put in before sleep.Any recommendations?

When I went to pick it up I discovered they had used HyproMellose as the filler. The pharmacist is telling me they contacted the manufacturer, that it is plant based and "should be" okay. I've always heard that HyproMellose contains PG. Does anyone have information to share with me on this?

For the first several months, I kept using hypromellose eye drops 3 times a day. It wasn’t until I got prescription glasses for my astigmatism when I realized I no longer needed the drops as badly as I used to.

Felt sore and gritty so have been using hypromellose eye drops. Gritty feeling has gone but still feeling sore today, no redness though. Just called on call ophthalmologist who said I may have been scratched with eye clamp and use viscous drops. I have some celluvisc eye drops so using these now.

It is the same as hypromellose, which is a PG extract combined with cellulose fiber. Places are making fake gelatin capsules out of it these days, so now, even capsules are not safe anymore! It may also be called HPMC. Please be careful out there.

I have hypromellose drops for dry eyes but they don 't seem to be helping. I've tried hot compresses which soothe but don't heal. I understand there can be a link between auto immune disease and blepharitis.

Just to let you in the UK that Superdrug have 'buy one get one half price' on their Moisturising Drops (they have different types but thes are Hypromellose). If you need something stickier to last overnight go for Viscotears. And good news . . I have had injections extended to every 12 weeks!

GP prescribed hot compresses and cleaning eyelashes with baby shampoo, plus gave me hypromellose drops for day and lachrylube for nighttime.

However I ran out but noticed that Optibac Extra Strength has exactly the same contents apart from hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose and hypromellose.

GP advised bathe eyes with baby johnsons shampoo and since then she also uses hypromellose 0.3. Had eye pressure test which was fine. Had endo at hos app. Nobody would confirm if it's related to her hypothyroidism. It doesn't appear to be allergic reation.
