Considering knee replacement surgery but ....
I have stage 3B kidney disease with creatine of 2.0 and eGFR 36. I'm 74 years old and except for high cholesterol (which I've had all my life) and managing hypertension with Lisinopril, all my blood lab numbers are excellent. My main concern about knee surgery revolves around during and after-surgery

Update from last post
6 weeks after 3 stents still feeling awful. Doctors have repeated my blood tests as creatinine was at 89 repeat test 2 days later 141. Waiting on another blood test as doctor called me in. He has dropped Bisoprolol to 1.25mg and stopped the Lisinopril as my throat swelling got worse. This is never ending

Feeling a little low
Update I had a heart attack in September that left me with a 100 percent blockage in the right artery. In and out of hospital since December with unstable angina. On the 29th March I had 3 stents fitted after trying both wrists they then eventually did it through the groin. Discharged 5 days later

Anterior hip replacement and Afib
Hi, I was diagnosed with afib just over twelve months ago. I've had an ablation in Dec and nsr since except for one minute. I was intolerant of the beta blockers they put me on and first ep refused to put me on any other meds. So I was just on Xarelto with AFib every three days for ten hours with

LISINOPRIL AND AFIB
Hello all, are there any on this forum taking lisinopril for high blood pressure? I just came across this today and it could explain why I and maybe others have more afib episodes than we should; 1. Caution: High blood pressure/heart disease meds and potassium-rich foods like bananas, potatoes and licorice

Has anyone else been diagnosed with hypercalciuria (excess calcium in urine) causing osteoporosis?
I've read a couple of osteoporosis forums and searched online and am not finding any information on hypercalciuria causing osteoporosis and its treatment (thiazide drugs which cause your kidneys to get rid of potassium and magnesium instead of calcium). I was diagnosed with osteoporosis (in my spine

What’s the point?
Hospital doctors out on strike, GP surgeries seem to be unavailable although I haven’t tried them, I just heard something about them on the radio. Now to cap it all I can’t get the named variety of lisinopril I’ve been getting for about the past 20+ years for blood pressure - it’s often touch and go

Some Success with Avoiding Afib
After seeing my Afib rate of incidence go from once every couple of months to once a month to every 2 weeks -10 days, I finally got control of the factors which I believe were driving it.Doing that included: 1. Getting off of most of my blood pressure meds. (I only take 12.5 mg metoprolol twice a day

New Primary cancer
I have stage 4 metastatic breast cancer ER+ and her2 negative and been on Ibrance and letrozole for since December 2023 though I was diagnosed August 2023. Long story that I mentioned in a previous post. I had a recent biopsy of my upper left lung since I have lung mets. The last biopsy I had said it

Is this decision right for me
I had a PSMA pet scan on 7/16/2024. The result shows a single tumor in my left lung measuring 8mm. My MO wants me to have the tumor radiated and monitor the PSA and its doubling time. A little background, I'm just short of 83 years old. I had prostatectomy in 2009, PSA undetectable until 2017. I had

plural effusion
I nave plural effusion in my left lung metastasis from ovarian cancer. I had a surgery last September 23 with WATS. Now I’m on strong chemo but this plural effusion is the same. I had five line of carboplatin, Bevacizumab, zentabun. Noting helps. I will try 3-4 more and if it’s not change I will stop

results of nail biopsy
At the end of last week I got my results of my nail biopsies. It is no fungus, no infection and best of all no cancer. They do not know what it actually is despite using numerous tests. A very happy outcome, as all medics seen in the process suspected subungual melanoma. I can live with not knowing

MRI prior to HDR Brachy and HDR intensity.
Hi Friends, Hey, I'm doing well to date in coping with HT and have just had 10 of my 23 VMAT radiation sessions. So far so good. BUT recently I was told that the radiation sessions are nothing compared to the "Brutal" HDR Brachy Boost I am having in mid-August. That wasn't what I wanted to hear, so

Help deciding on treatment
Discovered this forum a month ago and have found it to be a wealth of information, with very educated/informed members. Hoping that you can spread some of your wisdom and help my finalize my decision with treatment. I've posted more details in my profile as well as write ups from MSKCC on my Biopsy
