Lercanidipine - anyone have any experience with it?
Have just been taken off amlodipine because of swelling of the ankles/lower leg, setting the area on the leg damaged by cellulitis off and swelling in two fingers. Doc has put me on Lercanidipine to lower my bp. Am also on Apixaban. It was on this forum that I read about these side effects with amlodipine

How long does the right boob heal after minimally invasive heart surgery
Hi everyone. Nice to have joined your community. I have done my open heart surgery last and got a mechanical mitral valve. I did the minimal invasive surgery through my breast, it's 5 months plus now and my boob still hurts and numb. Is anyone feeling the same way or what could be taking longer to heal

I have recently (12 May )had a 5 x Heart Bypass operation. My recovery seems to be going slow - is that to be expected ? I am currently up to 10 minute walks 3 times a day. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

What shall I do?
I’m new to this condition (AF). I am waiting for my telephone conversation with a cardiologist at my local hospital. As I am having AF episodes nearly every other day (yesterday I had an episode in the morning at 9am when I had just woke up and another at 11.30pm) can I take paracetamol or anything

Slow weight loss
Hi I have been sticking to a 1200 calorie a day diet for three weeks and lost 2lbs first and second week I put on 1lbs this last week. I have been more mobile and doing some exercise so struggling to see what is going wrong. I lost 5.5 stone six years ago and was pretty fit swimming 50+ lengths 4-5 times

Are heart palpitations harmless?
Because I've been suffering from them at night where my heart thuds every 5 minutes or less. Its generally caused by my anxiety as I'm sure I have no heart problems but I want to be sure this is all harmless, won't give me a heart attack or something and that its just anxiety. Thanks

Mum’s Heart Surgery
Hi, Thank you so much for all the replies I had about what mum would find useful to take to hospital with her, you are all so kind and helpful. I wanted to give you an update as she had her valve replacement surgery yesterday. We were all on tenterhooks just in case it was cancelled at the last minute

Need for 2nd Ablation
I had an ablation in January 2019 which stopped my persistent afib. In Feb. 2019 I had a heart attack & had 3 stents. In 2018 I had been hospitalized twice for congestive heart failure apparently brought on by the Afib. My heart function has returned to a normal range. In a visit this week with my

Nine weeks ago I posted on this site, saying that I wanted to begin but seeking reassurance, being in my mid sixties and never having run voluntarily in the last fifty years. I had so many encouraging responses. And here I am. I ran week 9 run three this morning. In the. One weeks I had my 67th birthday

How to understand and treating reverse T3
Sorry, another post from me today! I have high levels of reverse T3, which I've been told can be caused by extreme stress, but I've also read that severe dieting/reduced carb intake can cause it. Does anyone on here know about reverse T3 and how to deal with it? My nutritionist says it can take a long

Thanking you all
Hi, Just to let all of you who most kindly gave me and my husband support through such a hard time of my husband having an AVR today. He has now had his procedure and in ICU, they have just taken him off the sedation and waiting for him to wake up. His blood pressure is high so they have started an infusion

Questions to ask Cardiac Surgeon
After being referred for a heart bypass just before lockdown, to my surprise I had an appointment to see the surgeon in two days. My anagram showed arteries completely block on RHS and 3 stents needed in LHS. Valves OK. A few weeks later my 'Nuclear MRI's' showed quite good blood flow on resting. In

Is AF linked to weight gain?
I was diagnosed with PAF in 1998, at the time I was 36 and had had open heart surgery for a repair to a hole in the heart. I had an ablation in 2006 and for about 9 months I still suffered with episodes of AF and then as suddenly as they started they just stopped, until I had flutters for a couple of

That’ll teach me
On Monday I had one of my best runs ever!! And did a lovely Spine Release Pilates session that evening and felt fabulous afterwards. Slept like a log and woke with a cricked right shoulder - you know the one where it hurts right down to your shoulder blade when you turn your head? Must have slept in

Ablation failure?
Dear all.......want to relay my story to you all. In January I had an AFib ablation. I felt dreadful later very quickly and it was soon found that the combination of the ablation together with flecainide had given me AFlutter. 2 weeks ago I had a 6.5 hour ablation for my typical and atypical AFlutter
