Arrhythmia Alliance - Hearts of Ghana Program
The A-A Hearts of Ghana programme team that headed out to Accra provided much needed training to local cardiac professionals, and also performed cardiac surgery to patients who would not otherwise have access to these lifesaving treatments. For future missions to take place, the programme is in desperate

Advice regarding setting of expectations ahead of cardiology appointment would be appreciated.
AF since March 23. Currently only really experiencing breathlessness on inclines. No experience of HR over 100 (as far as I know). Devices confirm persistent AF since March. Echo revealed a few mild heart failure issues and recommended cardiology review, which is due in a couple of weeks. My question

AF no longer a problem?
My first episode of AF was in 2014. The ambulance crew came to my house and clearly recorded atrial fibrillation which was confirmed after I was taken to hospital. The Cardiologist/Electrophysiologist put me on Apixaban. I was discharged a year later from his care. A year later I had a short hospital

Pain is killing me
Hi, I had a quadruple
heart
bypass
just before my 51st birthday 4 years ago, I have since been left with nerve damage in my torso. They said it would have happened from an underlying issue ok.

Regular alternate irregular heartbeats, .75 sec then 1 sec continuous- is this AF or some variation?
Noticed this morning when getting ready for a group bike ride, that I had an arrhythmia - I was slightly breathless as I rushed around getting my kit together. As always, a quick check of the pulse shows my pulse is fast and irregular. Whip out the 1 lead Kardia and first off it says possible AF @ HR

My Mom needs heart surgery & I'm a terrified, 47 yr old baby
I feel so selfish. My MOM is the one who needs her aortic valve replaced, not me. But here I am, terrified of the upcoming surgery. Terrified of how terrified I'll be. Why can't I reframe my thinking? Why can't I look at this as this will save her?! Quick background: I'm 47, female, never married, no

On 8th August this year, 2023, I had open heart surgery for the third time to replace my mitral valve. It was a tricky operation because of all the old scarring and I was worried I wouldn't make it, but I did. It worked really well and for two days I was riding high! However, on the third morning I

medication after open heart surgery
is there anyone on this site who has had a heart valve replacement and is now using biologic meds to control their ra? If so, I’d love to hear your experience. I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve which needed replacing in June (an event hastened by a toxic reaction to leflunomide). I’ve had an Inspiris

Metoprolol as rate reducer with no affect on rhythm....
So after my last Holter showed 8500 episodes of SVT (Atrial Tachycardia) in 14 days, with a 19% burden of Atrial Ectopy and 11% burden of tachycardia, my EP recommended an echo (which was normal, thankfully), starting Metoprolol, and Eliquis, while I wait for another ablation. I have tried, and failed

Quivering sensations
I hope you are all wellMy question : Has anyone experienced episodic "quivering" sensations that are very brief, 10 seconds or so? I've had something similar before, several years ago and wore a Zio patch for 2 weeks but never picked up any A-fib only PACs and PVCs. I am now 67 year old dx with paroxsymal

Hello, I’m 47 & a couple of days ago I was screened to check for dilated cardiomyopathy, which my mother has. It was discovered I have Atrial myxoma & need urgent open heart surgery to remove it. I’m in shock & so scared & wandered if anyone has had this surgery & how it was for you?

Still pain
Hello, My husband had a stent and double
bypass
following a
heart
attack 8 months ago. He's doing incredibly well with rehab and getting fit again. He's still getting pain around his pecks and tightness across his chest when exercising. This goes when he relaxes, so short-lived .

Persistent Atrial Fibrillation
I caught a bad cold (tested negative for COVID) in November 2022 and on the day that started, I went into AFib. I wasn’t given any treatment because I was already on Warfarin due to my aortic valve replacement in March 2015. I finally saw a consultant about the AFib in May 2023 and was put on Isosorbide

Robotic surgery?
My mitral valve is deteriorating and surgery is in my future. I’m 72, in good health besides aFib and my valve. I’m interested in robotic surgery and if I would qualify. Curious what other folks experience is.
