Hello :-)

I would say you do need a Doctor especially after surgery but in general as well :-) x

Get your person to talk to the BHF Heart Helpline Nurse.

Not sure what you mean by a primary care doctor. Personally I was discharged from the hospital fully after the 12 month review and from that point I have just been with my local doctor. Bit everyone has their local doctor so I am guessing that isn't the question!

Same here. I do have an annual Blood test and BP check by the practice Nurse, but that is fairly normal for my age group.

Other than that Doctors are some strange mystical beast that I am not sure actually exists any longer.

Yes, Doctor. Rolls round the tongue like those other imaginary beasts such as Policeman, customer service, free parking.,.,.

I haven't been offered either of those since covid. I had another HA in July 23 and still had nothing from GP until a few weeks ago when I asked to get bloods done. This is now outsourced from the surgery so apart from a telephone conversation for the results I have still not seen a GP.

I have the congenital heart team that I will need to see every year now after the 6 week and 6 month post op check ups. If I have any heart questions, the specialist nurse is my first contact. I will have the INR tests every couple of weeks so I speak to the anticoagulant team at that time. My GP just arranges my medication. If you have a good and caring GP who is accessible, hold on to them.
