Coagulation Cascade blood tests-to do or not to do? Even on Xarelto blood thinner?
Well, I've discussed my Cancer blood clotting status with my Med Onc last Tues, my cardio-NP this Tues, and my complex managed care insurance RN Monday. Two out of three said or implied that i should/could have a Coagulation Cascade blood profile test(S) labs done. My research from guys here mentioned

NXStage home patient constantly threatened by nurse/doctor if I have questions or concerns. They say then go in center or hospice.
Hello, I’m a 67 year old male on home hemodialysis NXStage since October 2019. My daughter is my partner she is a nurse and has worked in dialysis for years. Everything has gone well with treatments at home. The only problem we have is that every time we have a question about my treatment I’m being

Drug interaction with supplements
Good morning, I am currently taking bisoprolol and Eliquis (2 years now) and am considering taking a supplement for digestive issues. This supplement contains beetroot and pomegranate, and I am wondering if this could potentially react with the anti coagulant? Any advice would be helpful please.

Derived Fibrinogen
I am new on this site . My fiancé was feeling un-well and had quite extensive blood tests. Everything was ok or within normal parameters, however his Derived Fibrinogen level was 5.75 g/L (2.0 - 5.3) Above high reference limit. His serum prostate specific antigen level was 0.31 ug/L (0.0 - 3.0

Hello, I'm New Here.
Hi. I've just joined here. I had my pulmonary emboli in August 2018 and was firmly diagnosed with APL about a year ago. I take Eliquis and haven't had any issues with it or my APL since the p.e. I have a question about the memory trouble that's cited as a problem for our syndrome. Is it long-term memory

CKD support
Hi my husband had tonsil cancer and as a result of the chemo and several episodes of dehydration now has CKD. He has never actually seen a kidney specialist and was told he has CKD in a letter after they reviewed his blood tests. Do you think he should see a specialist for the implications of this

Hello everyone, I hope you are all staying safe. I have a weird question. I’ve had a very painful and swollen ankle which my Doctor diagnosed as possible gout. The swelling went down after about 5 days and the bruising was evident on the outer side of my foot for a further 5 days. Bloods ruled out gout

ET and enlarged spleen
Being relatively new to this forum (since Jan 2020) I am learning more and more about ET, but have not seen anything about pain occurring just below the left rib cage. I have been experiencing this for the past month and a bit of research indicates it could be my spleen working overtime due to increased

(off topic) Firmagon useful for treating pedophilia
It will probably surprise few of us that libido-reducing Firmagon has been found to be useful for treating pedophiles in a small Swedish study. They found that it had rapid onset of action (it is a direct GnRH antagonist). However, its effect on self-reported risk was far from complete, and we don't

Health Risks Associated With Long-Term Finasteride and Dutasteride Use: It's Time to Sound the Alarm
New paper below, [1]. Nalakrats & I believe there is a role for a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor in advanced PCa. Some disagree. I would be remiss if I didn't point out that long-term use (as with all PCa drugs) has a downside: "This treatment may result in development of non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases

Discontinuing Provenge in lieu of Covid 19; 2 out of 3 treatments.. still effective?
My dad and I were set to go to Cleveland today for his final Provenge treatment. However he received a call last night from Dendreon (the lab that makes Provenge) that his cells did not meet quality standards and would not be shipped. I called his oncologist in Cleveland and she was very emphatic that

Can't seem to stop constant underarm odor
Hello, My wife has had PD for around four years. This strong underarm odor always returns in 1-2 days after a good cleaning. The anti-perspirant deodorants make no difference at all, because she very seldom, if ever, perspires/sweats. I've started using my Brut deodorant on her but that was no help either

LDH jump in CLL
Hi all. My 65 year old mom has CLL (trisomy 12), and has been on Imbruvica for about a year now. Her LDH level at diagnosis was 427 (Normal is 84-246). She has steadily declined, and over the past several months has been maintaining in the 180's/190's. Today she was 242. This is a 62 point jump since

Cholbiomex3
Has anybody taken Cholbiomex3 to reduce their cholesterol? It contains a probiotic Lactobacillus plantarum, Vitamin B3 (nicotinamide) and red yeast rice rich in monacolin K. The reviews read very good although some folk had the same reactions as they did from statins due to the addition of monacolin
