Hi all, Had to post this to repay the hope and kindness shown to me, over the last few weeks ! As previously mentioned, I’ve had anal discomfort since the turn of the year, with gp putting it down to ibs. Blood tests and negative fit tests, end of January 24, so kept getting gp check, and used every

it’s been a while and my last post was not very positive . This is a quick update . I’m still unclear as to how I got here with my illness but I received palliative chemotherapy six cylcles one every three weeks. I think it was a variation of chop plus an immunotherapy drug beginning with B . The treatment

Recent Radical Surgery
Hi All, diagnosed after biopsy in December 2023 with 2 hits, one was a Gleason 4+3 and one was a Gleason 4+4. Just had the Radical Davinci Robotic Prostatectomy in March and my pathology seemed all good. Pre surgery PSMA scan and MRI contrast both showed all gland contained 5 lymph nodes were taken

Adalimumab
I have been on Hydroxychloroquine for 2 years and methotrexate for 6 months. Today I had to have bloods and chest x-ray as they want to start me on Adalimumab. Really hate the thought of another medication. I just wonder exactly what the medication is doing to my body. Already had a blip last month

chronic diarrhoea
I reduced to 5mg from 5.5 on 25/06. After about a week had intense nausea, headache for 2 days. From last week I’ve had chronic diarrhoea and stomach cramps. Literally as soon as I eat they come on and I go again. Gp has said it would be nothing to do with tapering. Also said I didn’t need to add more

I've Dodged the Big Bullet, Again!
One of my good friends came in to my hospital. room and said that I used another one of my many (nine) lives. I'm not in the hospital, now. I am in my very comfortable home on a lake, hopefully getting better from the recent really scary diagnosis of acute liver failure. Even I was worried. The cancerous

I am now back home . My gall bladder has calmed down so the plan is to have it removed in next 10 weeks ( that’s the waiting time ) My biggest concern now is that the CT scan I had on Monday has revealed a 5cm mass in my stomach. I am awaiting a CT biopsy which my haematologist has requested as

another iron infusion? and low ALT level
Hello, dear RLS friends! I would really appreciate your advice regarding my mother's ferritin levels. So she is currently on 0.375 mg (some days up to 0.5 mg) and 900 mg neurontin. I know DAs are not optimal, but at this point it would really be a problem to withdraw, especially that mom did start with

diverticulosis
well after 10 months of many laxatives for chronic constipation, 8 months since an X-ray showed considerable faecal loading, I finally had a colonoscopy! The diagnosis is Diverticulosis. Fantastic that the diagnosis wasn’t cancerous, nevertheless, it doesn’t help the abdominal and back pain that

Why taking anti-inflammatories including Pred could lead to a stomach ulcer
Dr Mark Porter who is a working GP writes most weeks in The Times. The link to today's article is below because he mentions steroids as well. I hope it opens. If it doesn't I can cut a paste the parts of interest. https://www.thetimes.com/article/184977ba-beb6-4db5-ad10-62e8fbb57add?shareToken=caa43823ee68fa182865e92faa5502b2

A warrior’s journey, QOL, wisdom?
From initial diagnosis through every lab test, imaging study, and treatment decision, this journey took enormous physical, emotional and spiritual fortitude. No matter the course or the length, hold your loved ones close, continue to plan adventures, and never give up hope. My husband used to say “

Anecdotal, but running could boost immunity
I am reading a lovely book of essays called These Precious Days by Ann Patchett. In the title essay a friend of the author is taking part in a clinical trial, having chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer. As you will know, Chemo destroys white blood cells which provide immunity, so you have to have a high

Upper left pain …gastro update
Just a quick update which hopefully helps others. I’ve just had an upper endoscopy and this showed mild gastritis. I’m very fortunate to have a great NHS doctor who listened to my concerns and supported me gaining assurances that there is nothing seriously wrong. I’ve still got the upper left quarter
