Hi Dubher. Sorry to hear about your pain. I was in that situation back in 2019. As you say, the pain is unbearable. You just can't sit down or get comfy. You just have to lay on your side somewhere.

I had about a month off work with it. I was prescribed some kind of cream or ointment which had a side effect of making you dizzy due to the medication trying to pull all the blood to that area in order to speed up the healing process. Most of it healed but even now, on occasion, it will tear open and release loads of blood. However, thankfully, there isn't really any pain now.

Hope yours heals quickly 🤞

Hi Anb80 ,Thanks so much for the reply..glad to hear your doing better now..I've had 2 weeks off work so far on and off as Dr's told me originally internal hemorroids..I have to go back to work next Monday and wondering how I manage the pain if the rectogesic hasn't started to work by then..

Hope you continue to stay well.

Hi. Unfortunately for me, no doctors or nurses at my GP could detect/see my anal fissure. They eventually referred me to a gastroenterologist, which I luckily went private for due to private health care from my employer. So, I managed to get straight in there. He took one look and saw instantly that I had an anal fissure. Even to this day, when I have a problem in that area and have to go to my GP, they still insist I don't have one, when I do! I can feel it with my finger, on the outside! Anyway....

When I had to go back to work I purchased one of those special "donut" cushions to sit on. That helped a lot but didn't remove the pain completely, sadly. So, that is all I can offer in advice, in addition to taking pain killers and continuing with the rectogesic.

Hope you start to feel better asap 🤞

Oh yes remember the pain well and this was 2017. I had to take a week off work. Could not lay on back only side. Discretly brought one of those circular seat pads so i could sit down at work on my return. My manager was very good I said I was so embarrassed to be off with this complaint.

I know how it feels and was unable to work when my fissure was at its worst. I tried rectogesic for months and also Diltiazem and finally had surgery

GTN ointment from the Dr worked for me brilliant.
