Just had a call from the surgeon I'm under for primary hyperparathyroidism, I had the F18 pet scan which showed a low grade uptake in the right thyroid bed, possibly a bit of thyroid tissue left over?? Size.. 13mm x 12mm.I had FNA for the mass on Nov 8th just waiting on results (she's hasn't received them yet!
But on the F18 scan she noted uptake in the lymph nodes and tonsils.. Noted (inflammatory in nature) I ask for further info on this, and we're told it looked like my body had a inflammatory reaction.
1, maybe a sore throat... (no sore throat)
2, my body is reacting to inflammation.
She said we see this reaction in inflammatory illness🤔
OK.. I've also just been diagnosed with an eye stroke, having cadiotic artery scan on Nov 20th
I Also have inflammation in the optic disc, with clotting.. (haemorrhage)
Does anyone think I should ask my gp to do a inflammatory blood test??
I mentioned this to the parathyroid surgeon, she said she would need to know the results of the cadiotic scan as any surgery she performs (parathyroid) would involve the cadiotic arteries.

Inflammation could be coming from a multitude of things and your lymph nodes are telling you this …. I would wait and see what the FNB results are and proceed from there.
Liver function satisfactory... Weird tho as in my last bloods June 22nd, my ALT was 41..range 40.00...) this bloods it's 21 U/L so that's gone down could that have been an inflammatory reaction?
It’s possible to have RA or even PSA (if you have family history of psoriasis) the blood test are not always accurate as your well aware and many things can cause inflammation.
Erythrocyte Sed Rate and CRP are what most rheumatologists do as inflammation markers although these still won’t tell you whats causing the inflammation.
My ESR was 60 (range stopped at 40) which is very high inflammation but I was also diagnosed with possible drug induced lupus…. Is this the cause?
My CRP was 8 (over range started at 10) so this could indicate my Psoriatic Arthritis is acting up …. But it’s still not 100% possible to say what issue is causing the inflammation… no matter what too much inflammation is bad for our health although a small amount of inflammation is considered normal so Im told.
Agree Batty1, 👍 and when I was put on steroids for colitis (4 months supply I felt amazing, same when they put me on steroids for graves I felt great, no body pain, not sweating like I have a low grade fever, fatigue improved, I sleep better no shaking like low blood sugar.Soon as I came off them everything came back 😔
Yes I've heard that Batty1... But my cousins husband was diagnosed with Addisons disease about 5 years ago, and he takes oral steroids everyday, with some other drugs, I thought my cousin said levo but I could be wrong!I would just love to go back on them for 3 months have the affect I had on them last time, it was heaven not to be in body pain, heaven not sweating badly, great having energy and sleeping better.
If I do have an inflammatory condition I'm asking for a trial 👍
This is a minefield for me Batty1 as when I was in hospital the first thing I was put on were antibiotics introvinec, after 6 days I was still vomiting with diarrhea, I was having the camera down the throat and the nurse took the antibiotics, steroids and fluid drips off me.I was to go down for 12 o'clock, but in the mean time an emergency came in and I was pushed back, but no one came to put the drips back in me.
They left me and forgot I'd not been seen to... After several hours I started to feel better even feeling hungry, they noticed I'd not been for the camera and rushed me down, when I came back my throat was sore my son got me some ice cream, I'd not eaten in the 6 days in hospital, after he went the nurse came in and commented on me eating saying great I'll inform the doctor, then she noticed I didn't have the drips re inserted, she immediately re hooke me up and within 30 minutes I vomited and had watery bowles back to square one.
I asked to be taken off the antibiotics, the doc eventually agreed but asked why... Because Ive had water/kidney infections and I can't keep the antibiotics down, I had a lung infection several months ago and gp again put me on antibiotics and again I threw them back..
I was taken off the antibiotics and with in 24 hours I was eating, no vomiting or diarrhea, but the steroids definitely helped me, as I said sent home with 4 months supply 👍
So I'd rule out antibiotics, but I'd try steroids again Batty1👍
I've never smoked, and I don't drink.. I have a very bland diet👍
You have been through so much just like my friend I always felt so bad for her she would eat and immediately she would need a bathroom and she has been hospitalized few times because her intestinal tract gets so inflamed that she started with ulcers… years of this hell and finally she started biologics …. She says she feels free for the first time ….. I don’t see why your doctors don’t put you on a low dose of prednisone if it helps your condition…. Crazy the things we have to go through. Good luck !
That what I was on Batty1... Couldn't remember the name of the steroids... Predinsone🙌... Yeah I feel it's time to take this into my own hands, I did ask my gp to re prescribe me some more prednisone after I ran out of the 4 months the gastro gave me.. My gp refused 😠
He said you can't be on steroids permanently, I was on 5mg per day and it helped me so much.. Hardly a huge dose. That particular gp as now took semi retirement, he comes in the surgery to help out🙄 still no doubt getting paid, but I have said I'd rather see another GP.. I don't consider him as my gp anymore so maby I'll stand a better chance with another gp in the practice 🙏
Just to let you know we merged with another surgery this year, then my gp took seml retirement 🙄
I do understand what he is saying because even low doses for long term use can cause kidney disease. He has to have another solution to your issue if he doesn’t want you to be in prednisone permanently or maybe go see the gastroenterologist again and let him prescribe the pred.
actually you probably could get away with low dose pred if you take it every 3 to 4 days…. Still kidney disease is a real issue.
Because I have primary hyperparathyroidism that causes kidney problems, stones infections, which I've had plenty, I just had a kidney function blood done and my creatinine was 58 range.. 90.00..120.00... My eGFR was.. 92..range.. 49.00..90.00)AkI.. 0...
