Natural cancer therapies worked for me
I joined a support group in Feb 1993 (after a diagnosis of Invasive Lobular Breast cancer, age 44). The women there were wonderful, but horrified that I wouldn't be doing chemo due to Multiple Chemical Sesitivity. I stated then that "there must be alternatives". When I thought about what I said, I realized

Should I push for mastectomy?
Hi all, I'm new to this site. I had a lumpectomy in July this year. They discovered it was lobular and a 2nd op was needed to obtain clear margins. That was 3 weeks ago and they told me last Friday that no invasive cancer was found following the 2nd op, just 'in situ' pre cancerous cells as I understand

Chewing gum is a great help to me for reflux
I am a little more than a year post-op (Ivor-Lewis oesophagectomy/partial
gastrectomy
). Of course, I had had reflux for years but the symptoms were quelled by PPI's until after the operation.

PET scan for lesion
Has anyone had a PET scan for bone lesions? I had a CT and then MRI in preparation for my DEIP flap reconstruction 2 years post mastectomy. They found a "lesion" on my L2 vertebrate. I'm trying not to worry but it's hard not to x

delayed reconstruction options
I had a single mastectomy at the end of May and wasn't offered a reconstruction at the time as it was thought that I would need radiotherapy. The tumors were found to be very small and low grade so I haven't needed any chemo or radiotherapy (just Tamoxifen). I have an appointment next week to meet

Expander reconstruction
Hi all. After chemo, I had a mastectomy and an expander reconstruction in Feb this year, followed by 3 weeks of radiotherapy. So now, 6 months later, my reconstruction is still rock hard. The skin around it is getting softer but, is this how it will always be, so hard?? I haven't had it expanded anymore

My journey begins...
Hi all, am back home following my surgery on Wednesday . I had a mastectomy and reconstruction using implant with ADM support. Am really pleased with the look although obviously it all needs to settle down etc. I am feeling absolutely fine with the help of paracetamol so far. Taking everyone's advice

My journey begins...
Hi ladies. Well today's the day I have my mastectomy and reconstruction . Feeling nervous about the op as have been fortunate to get to 58 and never been in hospital or had a General Anaesthetic . However also just want to get on with it now, come out the other side , and start the recovery process.

Hi there, I have not had reconstruction as was not suitable at the time. My surgery was 8 months ago and healed very well, did have a bit of a seroma (one side mastectomy and lymph clearance). Good movement so discharged from physio but I ache in the surgery area. I cannot lie on it, on my side or

BrCA Positive and New to This...
Hi there. I've recently been diagnosed with the BrCA gene (for those who are unsure, Angeline Jolie had this. In a nutshell, I will most likely have cancer in my lifetime occurring in my breasts/ovaries, and so measures such as mastectomy and oophorectomy are very common). IVF has been recommended to
