Just got a diagnosis of COPD - New to BLF -
Hi All Having googled COAD I now know it is the same as COPD. to give a little history, I gave up smoking 17 years ago and took up running about 4-5 months ago (have run/walked 4 x 5k park runs to date) However on one of my training runs after my first 5k I found I was struggling to take deep breaths

Persistent AF II ...
Just a quick update as everyone was so kind when I posted previously and some people wanted to know how I got on. This afternoon my GP phoned me and advised me to go to A&E since the extra dose of Diltiazem wasn't helping. It's been nine days now since this all started. A&E did an ECG and then sent

Hi everyone, I hope your day is behaving itself! I was here a couple of weeks ago introducing myself as possibly having COPD. I had a GP appointment this morning... Repeat chest X-ray is clear. Doc is wondering if I am post viral though I don't remember having any signs or symptoms of a chest virus.

Chest pain.... still
After about a week of center chest, left arm, left shoulder and left sided neck pain I went to the urgent care. They did an EKG and a chest x-ray both of which were normal. Does anyone have any idea if this should be a reassurance that these pains aren't heart related?

Ok, well I have been taken off new meds as my blood pressure is sky high. I have been given a steroid injection with another to follow on Tuesday. I have to have various blood test and a chest x ray. Then I will be examined again as my inflammatory markers are very high. The Dr said I will qualify for

Hi
Hi All, Diagnosed with late on set asthma at 60. Prior to this had been told my upper respiratory congestion was due to post nasal drip. But things got worse, climbing hills, any rapid change of pace etc. I am a survivor of breast cancer in my 40s, when I had lots of chemo and radio therapy to left side

Improvement on spirometry - Is it possible?
Since I found out my chest x-ray showed emphysema (on oct 31, a Halloween to remember I guess) I've been reading anything and everything about it. A few nights ago I saw a post where someone said their spirometry had improved. Now I can't remember what site it was on but I'm curious if others have experienced

Diagnosed with emphysema at 38
I started suspecting something was wrong a couple of weeks ago, chest X-ray confirmed my worst fear: emphysema. I have a two year old and a three year old, I've been quit smoking for four years. I don't want to leave my kids without a mom!!!! I just found this out yesterday and I'm not coping very well

Why can no doctor give me a straight answer and it seems like I am slowly feeling less physical. Depression?
I am currently a 22 year old white male turning 23 this upcoming Tuesday which I am excited for. My height is 70 inches and my weight is 164lbs currently. I am originally born on Long Island New York and lived there for 20 years of my life and just recently moved to Georgia 2 years ago. I landed a job

DRY COUGH, NO CONGESTION AND VIOLENT COUGHING
Hello Everyone, I have been having this cough for three months now. I had a chest x-ray and everything came back fine. The doctor said bronchitis and so she prescribed two different antibiotics which have not worked. Over the counter medicine is not working. I wonder if this is not bronchitis, but

Lung Problem
My partner was diagnosed last week with a chest infection, wheezy chest with creps and a temperature. Previously had raised white cell count. Hasn't got a chesty cough but today brought up what looked like saliva with fresh blood. He is obviously very worried as he asked the doctor last week if it

Disappointing rheumy appt
Hi all, finally seen in rheumatology clinic yesterday but no further forward.. The consultant there is well known for expertise in lupus so I was holding out hope for some answers or a greater understanding on my part, of what the future looks like. However was seen by registrar instead who ordered further

ER woohoo
So this morning was hell on earth. Insane blood pressure readings..... For the last week or so I've noticed my pulse was high, resting was over 100, this morning I decide to head to the E.r. and shockingly I get a reading on my BP of 229 over 96. At this point I'm panicing, I retake it and it's even

Just posting here as I find it hard to discuss with family and it may help those new to this. Have spent a Saturday morning in A&E after 72 hour spell of AF, the longest I have experienced. I was not getting too anxious as I am already on warfarin and the symptoms were manageable. All previous episodes

My Rheumatologist phoned last night.
I was surprised to receive a call at 7.20 last night from my consultant, in fact I had dropped off to sleep after a few hectic days with friends over from Portugal. I last saw her in July and because I was changing from Azathioprine to methotrexate I had to have an X-ray, I had already had a blood test
