Pneumonia/Asthma/Undiagnosed and confused
Evening all, Right a bit of background: Im Laura, 22 yrs old. Used to smoke for about 4/5 years, gave up nearly a year ago. Got pneumonia in June last year. Was referred to the Infectious Diseases department of the hospital as they thought it was TB. Had a chest X-Ray that showed a shadow in my lungs

Alternatives to preventer inhalers?
Has anyone experienced extreme side effects when using preventer inhalers? I have tried Beclomethasone (2 puffs daily) three times now and every time I use it, my breathing improves but after the second to third day I get crippling back pain/pressure. I really don't know how to move forward in getting

I don't know what to do !!
Hi, I've been asthmatic for about 15 years, but for a few years now I seem to have permanent chest infections/colds etc. which usually means prednisilone or antibiotics to help my asthma. I also have hay fever & rhinitis which complicates things further ! I'm currently taking Avamys nasal spray; clenil

Montelukast
Saw the consultant today. He is also puzzled as to why my asthma has flared up. Put me onto motelukast tablets - hope I react better to these than Uniphyllin. I also had a chest x-ray, being tested for allergies and going to have lung function tests - oh joy! Anyone got any stories of Montelukast and

Never needed to take the inhaler I was given as a precaution. This Autumn I was diagnosed with stress - bad time at work with

Salmeterol and Crushing Chest Pain
I really need some advice... I have been struggling with asthma since February this year. I have been on a variety of different inhalers and to cut a long story short, none of them seem to agree with me. Salbutamol caused me heart palpitations and Beclometasone caused me anxiety, muscle aches and

It's a long one, but could use your opinions please!
Hi all, I'm a new member but have been reading the boards for a while. I've had asthma for about 5 years, and mostly it's been well controlled till I had a bad exacerbation at the beginning of this year that resulted in an admittance. Since then my asthma has never got back to being how it was , and

Different Hospital Experience in different NHS area
I suffered a major attack today during the daytime, just after lunch which is very un-usual for me. Normally it's around 10pm, lol. Anyway, the guys at work were very good, they called for an ambulance only to be put on hold! (London Ambulance service) I guess they were very very busy, anyway got

Not sure what to do next
I have had 3 chest infections now in the past 4/5 weeks! I have been to the doctors and 3 gps have told me that 'it's just one of those things.' I have had to go to Minor Injuries twice now as my chest has played up in the evening, I was greeted by a receptionist who told me 'we are not a gp service'

3 down, Hoping not 1 to go!
Hubby is asthmatic, daughter is asthmatic and now I've just been told it is highly likely I am asthmatic too! After suffering three weeks with what initially was a dreadful cough coming out of nowhere and leaving me exhausted. The first call I made was to emergency docs one night as I was struggling
