Is it IBS
The condition i have is called Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction, so if you have had
gallbladder
removal
and then problems started, even years later it is worth looking into this, I cannot digest food properly or metabolise fat, hence the weight gain even though going to ww and then doing the low carb diet

Zoladex, Livial, hysterectomy....does anyone else feel like their life has been turned upside down? How do you cope? Are you still working?
I had 3rd Zoladex injection 4 days ago and really suffering. Insomnia for past 5 weeks meant that I ended up starting Livial a month earlier than scheduled. I feel as though I am in emotional free fall. Does anyone else feel this way? How are you managing to cope and look after your children and carry

Question about HRT for 36yo after oophorectomy
I am 36 and have had both of my ovaries removed by surgery 2 months ago as a result of OC. My gynae-onc and another gynae-oncologist I saw for a second opinion both recommended that I do not use HRT given that I don't have any serious symptoms apart from ocassional hot flashes and difficulty sleeping

Surgical menopause!
Hi all, I really don't know where to start. But here goes, in 1992 aged 21, I had my first laparoscopy for cysts on my bladder that were found to be pre-cancerous. This surgery led to a perforated bladder and instead of a day surgery I was in for 2 weeks. In 1996 after the birth of my 1st child I had

Do you have Gallstones?A pain in the ………shoulder?
If you have been feeling a tad under the weather recently and have had a discomfort in the shoulder area, specifically the right-hand shoulder blade, it may be that you have developed gallstones. The gallbladder acts as a storage vessel for bile produced by hepatocytes cells in the liver. Bile passes

Foot surgery? No thanks!
I had my Consultant review today and, unbelievably, actually saw the Consultant! I was delighted to see him, if I'm honest, because he's a lovely, gently spoken man who appears to actually (or effectively manages to convey) care about how much discomfort I'm in. I've had a few very keen & eager Registrars

Daughter and ovarian cysts at 20 years of age
Im in quite a state today about my Daughter. She has had a brown discharge continuously for 1 year. She went to the doctors who put her on the pill for 3 months. This lessened it but it didnt go away. She went back to the doctor and they ordered a scan which of course she had to wait for. Once that

CT scan series part 5 – A bit about CT scanners
Let's first define some terms. I don't want to lose you in the detail of sievert (Sv) vs gray (Gy) as units of radiation measurement because there is no meaningful way you can calculate your individual risk based on adding up sources of ionizing radiation. Any assessment of risk must be done by statistical

Hi, I have been told that raised ALT is associated with AIH/PBC overlap and not pure PBC.Does anyone have PBC and have raised ALT? Thanks
I have been on URSO since jan 2014 following positive AMA and raised ALP of 135. ALT has been around 60 for a year and after 6 weeks on URSO came down to 40. My ALP came down to 99. 6 weeks further on ALT is now up to 50. My specialist had said in March that he was happy that the ALT was coming down

What is causing this pain??
My GP arranged a liver scan for me,I had my gallbladder removed two years ago because of gallstones and have been in pain since. The scan came back clear and my GP is baffled. All the surrounding organs are ok and the abdominal wall. The pain is towards the right hand side and is intermittent but has

I have a severe case of Endometriosis and I've been thinking of getting an Oophorectomy and I'm only 20yo
I have tried so much to get my pain to settle down (herbals, medication, birth control, surgery) and nothing is helping. The birth control makes me worse. The surgery didn't keep the pain away. Herbals did nothing. And now I'm desperate to be pain-free. It's hard to live life because my Endometriosis

Not sure why I was put on meds
Everything was in the "normal" range except my mitochondrial antibodies were rather high which seems to indicate high chance of having PCC. As a naturopath I opted for natural healing and after six months is when it was higher as I currently stated. My Healthy lifestyle did not help to prove my point
