Fluoride

I have just been prescribed Duraphat toothpaste by the dentist, which contains 5000ppm of fluoride (as sodium fluoride). She wants me to use it once per day at bedtime and not rinse afterwards.

Can this high fluoride tooth have anything to do with it? Only using a short time and have gained 5 lbs. Not sure if connected. Thanks, EasyYou're supposed to leave it on your teeth 30 minutes after spitting, no food or drink.

Is anybody able to throw any light on overdosing (if that is what has happened) on fluoride? Thanks in advance, Tom.

Use a fluoride containing toothpaste. Ask your dentist about prescription strength fluoride toothpaste (Prevident or generic). Clean between the teeth (interproximal) daily (best before bed) with floss or picks. If you wish to use mouthwash, use fluoride containing rinses without alcohol.
