Mouthwash is a really hard one as often it has glycols in it. My dentist said sometimes we can wash our mouths out with salt water and this helps when we have bad breath. and I am going to try listerine total care: Ingredients: sodium fluoride, water, alcohol, sorbital, paloxamer 407, eucalyptol flavor, methyl salicytate, Menthosl, phosphoric, acid, sodium saccharin, thymol, disodium Phosphate, sucralose, red 40, blue 1

The ingredients in this mouthwash are bad. Sorbitol, like PG, is a sugar alcohol which should be avoided. Likewise, ALL food colorings seem to use the glycols and also ALL flavorings (if not organic) have the potential of containing PG/PEG. I have found that using the water pik daily, along with flossing and sometimes rinsing with salt water and/or coconut oil pulling, keeps mouth bacteria in check. Occasionally, I will put a drop of peppermint essential oil on my tongue if needed.

I occasionally rinse with hydrogen peroxide. Says on the label we can do that. Aside from salt water, it's all that's safe.

Hydrogen peroxide is a great idea---it's just hydrogenated water.

Be careful. I googled poloxamer 407 and this is what it says:

Poloxamer 407 is a hydrophilic non-ionic surfactant of the more general class of copolymers known as poloxamers. Poloxamer 407 is a triblock copolymer consisting of a central hydrophobic block of polypropylene glycol flanked by two hydrophilic blocks of polyethylene glycol. Wikipedia

You might take a look at Tooth & Gum Tonic by Dental Herb Company. I've used it for years. The ingredients are: Deionized water, vegetable glycerine, extracts of echinacea angustofolia, echinacea purpurea, gotu kola, pure essential oils of peppermint, red thyme, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus globulus and lavender, plant saponins.

It's not a problem for me, but some people with glycol allergies can't use glycerine.

best of luck
