High respiratory efforts in COVID-19 patients could result in self-inflicted lung injury
The impact of high breathing efforts on the lungs of patients suffering with acute respiratory failure due to COVID-19 has been investigated by researchers at the University of Warwick, who assessed the likelihood of resulting lung injury. Although mechanical ventilation is a life-saving intervention

Will it ever happen?
Sorry for the below but I'm at my whits end. I've been super emotional for 2 days and I have missed my husband who's on a boys motorbike holiday. Nobody understands what it's like to have fertility issues and everywhere there's baby announcements. I'm losing hope. We are waiting for retrograde ejaculation

We are getting near the incontinence stage
My lovely wife is terrified of, but getting indications of, incontinence. So far one or two 'accidents' but an increased demand on me to get her to the toilet. The worst part is in the night, she has for some weeks now been unable to get to the commode unaided after several disastrous falls. She now

Urgent explosive diarrhoea
Hi to all sorry to post this but I was wondering if anyone else suffers with this. It’s been so debilitating all week. It’s a constant thing that comes and goes but of late it seems to be happening more often 😩. It starts not long after eating with the urgent pains and literally if I’m not a minute

Don’t know what to expect
I was diagnosed with PSP and CBD in December 2020 . I haven’t had much support from the medical profession, and don’t know what to expect regarding end of life care. I started to have symptoms about 4-5 years ago and my condition is quite bad now, with sight problems, extreme tiredness, and frequent

Embryo batch freezing (antagonist protocol)
Hey lovelies, I just finished a 3-cycle back-to-back embryo batch freezing and wanted to share my journey with you, with the hope that this would be useful for others going through it right now or thinking of in the future.
Background:
I’m 32 and have low antral follicle counts (10) and AMH (11

3.5 year old son doing many poos a day
Hello. I am new here and hope to get some advice and support. My 3.5 year old son does a poo 4 to 7 times a day. Sometimes the poo is hard and round and other times it's soft and seems normal. I tried toilet training him when he was 3 and I couldnt carry on as he got constipation passing hard stool.

Anyone ever tried tryptophan for IBS related symptoms? I will do as from now (September 2024).
Hi, in my continuous research I stumbled upon the following scientific articles Impact of Microbial Metabolites on Microbiota–Gut–Brain Axis in Inflammatory Bowel Disease https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7915037/ Tryptophan Metabolites Along the Microbiota-Gut-Brain Axis: An Interkingdom

8 year old son anal skin tags and fear of pooing
Please can someone help? For two years now my son's fear of pooing has gotten worse. He was constipated when younger and passed such massive poos that they caused two anal skin tags. He now refuses to try for a poo due to fear, stating it hurts him. He only goes every 4ish days when he absolutely can

Nearly 4.5yr old son still having accidents both urine and faeces, will use toilet when took or sent, but not telling anyone he needs to go.
My son was trialled on movicol a while ago, but it was stopped after a week, as watery stools. Didn't need it really, but wanted to rule out constipation causing the accidents. He has regular poos, around 4-5 per week. Main problem is that he doesn't tell us that he needs to go to the toilet for a wee

Ibs tretment
IBS gradually increased in frequency and severity so had to see what I could do. Thanks to the posts here I already feel much better. Used Buscopan which eased the stomach cramps quickly. Now taking probiotics (1 per day) and peppermint oil (2 per day) . Early days but definitely feeling better. Thanks

Warning: Sarcopenia
WARNING: Sarcopenia
Muscle loss is a natural part of aging, but can lead to a reduced quality of life in the best case and to serious injury due to a fall in the worst case. In PWP the consequences of sarcopenia can be even more severe.

Fibroscan date
Finally got a date for my fibroscan 20th of August, wow a long time still. On the 21st of June I have a telephonic consultation with a urologist to discuss a possible laparoscopic pyeloplasty, when this will eventually happen I have no idea. In this regard I have to cope with the nephrostomy and

When to increase dosage of Carbidopa/Levodopa
Husband had an appointment with his neurologist a few weeks ago. Hubby does not have tremors and dr. stated he couldn't tell if hubby was getting any worse. Also asked him if he was depressed and he responded no. Neurologist said well you can up your dosage of Carbidopa/Levodopa - do you want to do
