My son was trialled on movicol a while ago, but it was stopped after a week, as watery stools. Didn't need it really, but wanted to rule out constipation causing the accidents. He has regular poos, around 4-5 per week. Main problem is that he doesn't tell us that he needs to go to the toilet for a wee or poo. We take him regularly or when he is running around etc doing the 'wee wee dance' as I call it. If you ask him where he should do his wees and poos he knows that it is on the toilet. Have tried reward charts, getting a toy if he keeps dry for 5 days or so, but nothing works. He is a clever boy in general, but its very frustrating that he has not grasped this yet. Worrying about him going into reception in September if it's still an issue. Any advice is appreciated or if anyone has had something similar with their child, what did it in the end?

Hi,

I have something similar and have also been prescribed movicol as my daughter does have some constipation and doesn't go very regularly but they also suspect some of her issues maybe behavioural and not.medical since she does suffer from anxiety. She is 5 and has had accidents at school. She doesn't tell them though! The school are very supportive and if you still have concerns come September I recommend speaking to them. We still haven't got to the root of it yet, but I have a feeling it is linked to her anxiety.
