NHS rapid policy statement on Tocilizumab for GCA during the Covid-19 pandemic
Hello everyone, and I hope you are all staying safe ( and sane) in these scary times. Forgive me if someone has already brought this to people’s attention, but I only just came across this important statement put out by the NHS which most certainly affects me, and could affect other GCA sufferers who

Feeling the pain
Last November I had three short courses of Brachytherapy following a hysterectomy for womb cancer. I thought all was going okay but began to have rectal bleeding. To cut a long story short I had a flexi-sig and transanal ultrasound done today. For the first time I saw the issues. Firstly a polyp

The Salt Room ...
Hi Everyone, thought I would tell you about what has happened to me over the last couple of days. I have been travelling quite well on 6 mgs of pred and tocilizumab jabs weekly and some girlfriends invited me to come along with them to “The Salt Room”. It sounded fab, described as a cure for all sorts

Umbilicus inflamed after lap
I had a lap to remove stage 4 Endo from my rectum and bowels at the end of February and I’ve had nothing but troubles with my belly button. I had key hole surgery so the umbilicus was the main port. Ever since it has been swollen (almost outside my belly button and that’s a deep hole lol) and weeping

Hi newbie here
Hi, I’m Dawn from Wisconsin. In 2011 I was diagnosed at 53, with Mets to the bone. No prior history. I was given 6-12 months. I started on Avastin, Femara. About 2-3 years in I nearly died, and my doctor took me off Avastin. I remained on Femara. That’s held me stable until current. My markers are on

An update on my tocilizumab experience.
Hello Everyone, from Downunder, I have now had my 12th jab of tocilizumab and my inflammatory markers have reduced to “normal” levels. I feel strong, full of energy and mentally positive for the first time in some months. My pred is down to 6.5mgs, Rheumatologist thinks I could reduce more rapidly,

What did you take to hospital when you had surgery? (Laparoscopy)
So my surgery is coming up end of month. Laparoscopy and polyp removal. I’ve been told to bring slippers and a robe (dressing gown) which I have and maybe something to entertain myself. Might take my kindle and phone. Is there anything else I need. I’m only meant to be in for the day so won’t need overnight

Remove polyp before IUI?
Hi All, I’m very new to all this, so any help would be appreciated! I had the HyCoSy test yesterday at my private clinic, and while my tubes are fine - they found a polyp on the lip of my cervix. The doctor said they could still go ahead with IUI, but it’s probably best to have this removed before

Hysteroscopy - Polyp removal
I've just had my hysteroscopy done and I'm so upset as the doctor only removed polyps and didnt do a scratch. He said my lining was ok but the procedure felt very rushed and he literally took 30 secs to remove the polyps. I should have asked at the end but I was in alot of pain. He also said my womb

Femara (Letrozole)
Anyone taking Femara (Letrozole) for fertility? Does it delay your period? My two apps are showing different period start dates. One yesterday and the other due on Saturday.

Kate Gilbert’s book. Polymyalgia Rheumatica and Giant Cell Arteritis: a survival guide. 2nd edition.
I just had to write to say how good this book is and I couldn’t recommend it more highly. I know many of you will already know it well but I’ve only just read it and apart from finding it full of useful information I was surprised at how enjoyable it was to read. I hadn’t bothered with it earlier in

Less than satisfactory telephone consultation
Hi all , after singing the praises of the dentist last week I have had a very disappointing consultant appointment today. Firstly it wasn’t a consultant but one of the team. Having discussed my medication and health, he went off to discuss with the consultant that I had stopped the methotrexate. He came

Hysterectomy- should I keep my ovaries?
Hi, I’m new on here, but most definitely not new to endometriosis!! I’m finally getting some sense from consultants around having a hysterectomy. I had a telephone consultation a couple of weeks ago (not face to face because of lockdown) The Consultant explained that I would need a full hysterectomy
